Day Trading vs. Swing Trading vs. Position Trading

Did some intra day trading this morning. Much easier to take advantage of the moment and profit. Starting to wonder if Transitioning to swing trading is really what I want to do.

Yes I think it is possible to make money with day trading but there should be a good planning and we should be consistent in trading.we shold be greed and control our emotions in day trading.

Nice thread. Both have pros and cons..I guess its up to the individual

DAYTRADING

Pros:
- Smaller take profit target = Smaller risk per trade. smaller TP has nothing to do with the risk. it's less risky actually.
- Because of the amount of trades being placed, compounding has a greater effect on your overall profits. yes
- You can make money faster. yes
- Makes you 'Feel Good'. Can be a rush! (Is this really a pro?) can be
- Allows you to always be actively participating in the market (Is this a pro?) not true
- Because of the last two, traders can exhibit addictive behaviour (gambling). maybe, maybe yes
- Because most positions are closed out at the end of the day, able to take advantage of interest earned in their account. its not about the silly interest really
- Risk control - positions are closed out overnight so unexpected market changes will not affect your bottom line. sleeping tight indeed

Cons:
- Spread has a larger effect on your overall profits. that is BS if you think about it
- You can lose money faster. yes
- Very difficult to learn - by some estimates less than 1% of traders become successful. its as easy/hard (you pick) as swing and position trading
- Time consuming - very difficult to trade properly if you have a full-time job. not really
- Fast pace & necessary concentration can make day trading very stressful. not necessarily
- Extremely Risky! Traders can lose a substantial amount of money in a very short period of time. which is good because you quickly find out if your trading sux or not
- Discipline, proper money management, risk/reward and a profitable system are a lot more important when day trading. Even a small mistake can result in a huge loss. negative
- Can be harder to predict the market. horseshit

I traded all kinds of time frames starting from M1 TO Mn. I traded scalping or intraday style it is very tiring and highly risky and it is time consuming besides besides stress and News calendar ... I today decided to exclude Intraday trading forever. I was a swinger indeed but We must try all types of trading to be convinced with our system we trade with. I will depend only on D1 time frame additionally w1 and Mn. Swing has low risks and you get rid of stress and hurry in intraday one. Swing is for professional trader.

Low time-frame strategies will end up in a negative equity curve in the long run. Spread and commissions destroy the edge significantly. If you find a broker without any of these charges, you might have a chance on lower timeframes, but even then developing a predictive strategy on essentially noise will be problematic.

You haven't met the right traders then.

I'm profitable on the 1 minute, although just getting my legs underneath me after a major strat overhaul for the past handful of months, and I know others who do far better than me on the 1m as well.

Spreads on major FX pairs and indices with any decent broker (unregulated is all I've seriously looked into) are plenty good enough to trade 1m or above, and with the brokers I've tried commissions haven't made a significant impact - if anything I'd just need to shoot for .1 or .2R farther to cover them.

Edit: Didn't realize I was jumping in on a dinosaur-aged thread. But as other people have commented, any style can work, on any timeframe. What's important is does it work for you.
