hi Olu, if gold and US$ are oposite of eachothers, then Your gold analysis is great as US$ is keeping advancing up. I have been watching gold spot (XAU/USD)on FXCM and the spread is 50, is that a regular spread or it is too high?

Hi Rehab

The gold cfd I trade is quoted 1367.30/1367.60 right now. This cfd is based on the december futures.

The cash is quoted 1367.13/1367.93 at the moment as well. I think because we are after hours the spread is wider.
I dont think the cfd spread can be any narower on my terminal though

Hi Rehab

This is usually true. However at the beginning of this Syria business the US$ appreciated and gold also appreciated as well. But going up together as a pair doesnt last very long. Hence what we see happening now.

Hi Olu, I have nothing open. It is quite unclear to me the direction of the $ cause of the issue of Syria. I am scanning the charts for short term trades (a one day trade) but even that I can´t find- it is monday.

I know what you mean rehab.

I think atm that the 'tapering' issue is perhaps more important to the forex markets. I suppose syria issue is there as well. Lets say 60:40

Talking short term I sold the usdjpy gap up late last night. I am about to close the last bit of profit as I am still bullish usdjpy. Not my usual trading style so I put on a light position.

I am interested in cocoa, corn, canadian $ futures, sugar at the moment so I am busy monitoring these

Hi Olu: still looking for a short term trade. I sold GU: possibility of double top on daily chart. Candle formation on 4H and stochastic are supporting. Please see chart. I also bought UJ but based on the FXCM $ index momentum on 4h chart. (charts in order are: GU-1d, GU-4H, $ index)

I scratched the trades. I better wait till the daily chart of $ is clear as intraday chart is showing a possible momentum reversal.

Well done Rehab on those trades. We live to battle another day. I believe the breakout in the usdjpy is good. We had a breakout of a triangle pattern and a retest of the boundaries of the triangle and we have now taken off to the upside. Do this might be a good one.

On the $ issue I have been sitting on my hands. It has been weakening. Fundamentally:

the Syrian issue is 'fading'
there is percieved growth and recovery
Risk coming back into the markets - stock markets rallying

Al this points to a weakening dollar. I dont think the $ bashing can carry on for much longer though

According to Stochastic on Daily charts the $ is recovering, the EU is recovering too and the UJ is is hesitating around over- bought area. Such a mixed situation confuses me, I like when it is homogenized. I think the $ will show some strength (Gold is falling as you mentioned) and it is a job to pick up which pair will drop or rally alongside. I think a EU bear is the most probable trade. I thought FOMC was meeting yesterday and today to decide on the tappering but I see nothing on the calender, do you have news?

I think i was totally wrong with my analysis. here it is again the $ Us, it clearly has broken the long-term trend line. Now we need price acceptance below this line and the $ will fall for ever IMHO. I am already long EU and short UJ since the morning.

Well done Rehab on the trades. Everything in in a bit of a flux atm imho but nimble traders like yourself are still giving it a good go. I have left things alone a bit in forex because I am looking for longer trends. Dollar is weakening atm but I feel it is too late for me to joun the party
