in the 2007/8 financial crash the VIX got below 10, historically everytime it has got under 10 there has been s subsequent sell off/correction in the market

VIX based products are complicated, but are always heavily traded. I saw Sep $22 VXX calls got on the hi volume list for Thur. I am going to take a stab at the Oct $25 calls if they get down to $0.20.

Taking HAL $46 put on the open as long as I can get in for 8c or below. HAL closed at $46.58 yesterday. I'm looking for oil to retrace a little taking these srevice companies with it

been waiting on that oil retrace for some time as I have Oct otm USO puts, need to see oil <$100 & won't see that until USD tightens up. State of Emergency & another massacre in the streets of Cairo today may have a way of keeping oil price elevated....

Gonna take VXX calls $15.50 on the open if i can get in for 5c. VXX closed at $14.49. IMO we will have a breakout to the downside in the DOW if we can get past the 50 day

never got in the VXX calls, working on a pretty large SDS long call pile though

my UNG sold $18 puts expire tomorrow, right on the bubble, maybe have a chance, maybe have to buy back for a smaller profit tomorrow, we'll see...

also have Aug Dell $14 calls expiring, that was a reasonable gamble, but with earnings out AH prolly little chance of making anything there

September-30 Call for $1.60 (limit order)
take profit at $2.46
stop loss at $1.12

Hopefully the market doesn't gap up. I expect to take profit on the trade on the day the trade is executed, or the day after at the very latest.

What's up peeps? Not much new here, heavy day job hours, little screen time. Construction season. Not much in new trades, SDS Dec $42 long calls are about $0.50 itm, looking for about twice that, at least.

I saw voila Oct SDS options became available where they had not been before. Just noticed that today. May dip into those, still looking to buy $42 maybe $43 calls & offset selling $35 or $36 puts.

Watching NUGT and DUST with renewed interest now that their splits have gone in...

Wasn't planning on holding em very long, sitting around be now, need just a little more letup in the bond selling. May bail tomorrow....


Saw VXX dip to $14.8x today, be a gift to get another dip tomorrow, we might try Aug 23 $16 calls if could get in for < $0.10..... they might be worth $0.50 or more with a steep market slide by Friday...

With VXX at ~ $15.05 bought the $16.00 Sep calls for $0.78. Expect to be itm as we head into Sept FOMC.....looking to net >$0.40 there....

Also bought Oct $43 SDS calls today for $0.58. Have various Dec $42 calls also for as low as $0.95 up to $1.10....

Sep taper follies prolly all a big shakeout and we go to new S&P highs by Halloween...

Also sold Oct SDS $36 puts for $0.66.....
