Is there any real customer service at MBT? My 1 min charts only go back about 1 to 2 months. All I want is to be able to download some more historical data to create my offline charts! I get pushed from one person to the next, put on hold countless times only to be told "they're not sure" "the guy who knows about that isn't in the office" "call back tomorrow"
Four days now and I can't get an answer! Absolutely ponderous!!!

Hi, can MB Trading consider adding a feature to change the opening and closing time a bar is calculated. Or just change it all together. My problem is the Sunday bar (from 5 PM Eastern to 12 AM) which then displays 6 trading days in a week vs. the usual 5. I notice this discrepancy on the MB Trading Meta trader terminal vs. other MT4 data feeds and even the MBT Desktop Pro data feed where the daily bar starts at 5 PM eastern USA time thus displaying 5 daily bars in a trading week. Or at the least can I get an explanation why there is this data discrepancy...

This has been discussed previously on this thread by Justin. Has to do with execution times matching between their main system and the MT4 server. Unfortunately, MT4 doesn't have (but should have) the basic ability for a customer to change EOD on their charts. That's pretty standard for most charting platforms, but another area where MT4 lags.

MBT growing SPREADs and diminishing LIQUIDITY

There is a little spread histogram analysis on the following chart. It clearly shows great decline in liquidity and spread widening.
The data are from January 2011 vs January 2013. Similar situation can be observed for other majors and crosses.

Thanks for the response. Its just odd that I have 2 other demo MT4 platforms (Alpari and FxPro) that I am looking at that do have 5 PM eastern USA as their EOD.

Both deal desks. Their execution systems are not outside of MT4, so they can set their server to any time they want more easily.

Ever since MBT forced the upgrade to MT4 build 500 + your platform has been in trouble: What you say! I am a renko chart trader. Now your platform won't allow any offline charts to be formed. So you can't back test Renko or any other offline charts. Your support ,Chris Merc^^^ , was checking into it. Has any thing been done ????thanks

I should add that my other platforms work, Global Prime, Finfx , FXCM & alpari

Ray

PS: since I'm on the soapbox, When will we drop the EXN & use regular demo or will I have to convert all my indies & EAs to "." suffix??? and if so can you provide an auto fix????

They have two quotes feeds. If you are using FREE EXN quotes, you have the "." If you use PFL, you don't. There has to be a way to distinguish between the two.

And also they didn't force the upgrade. MetaQuotes is forcing it.

If you think about it, whenever a system is working properly, you hardly ever hear about it. It is only when the system is not working, then you get all the complaints. Well-oiled machines you hardly notice they are there, just quietly moving its parts along and getting things done.

2/10ths of a pip isn't that bad. As long as I'm getting a fair deal, I've learned not to worry too much about a few 10ths of a pip. I suppose with the reduced competition in the USA, it's unlikely that there will be much reason for retail brokers to do any significant reductions in spreads.

on the other side of the pond though (AU/EU/UK), not uncommon to see raw spreads for the major USD crosses <0.6 pips for the majority of the trading day.

Took a big hit on stop loss on Thursday during the spike at the end of the session, slippage was ~60 pips total ( EUR/USD and AUD /USD )(+ 20-30 pip stop loss) , so that was really painful.

On a positive note, I had take profit slippage during BOJ intervention long time ago, which made me more money.

Not to mention that in the last minutes on Friday closing (16:59), the spread is insanely high.
for example, in Aug 16 the last few tickprices were:
time, bid, ask, spread
16:58:59.0 1.33405 1.3342 1.5
16:59:00.0 1.33297 1.33539 24.2
16:59:00.0 1.33297 1.33539 24.2

if you look for previous weeks, they have the same pattern, at the last minutes the spread mostly widen to 20-30 pips.

Perhaps if we better understood the structure of the FX market we might understand why an ECN does not, and effectively cannot control liquidity, hence cannot control spread. If no one is willing to sell below the Ask and no one is willing to buy above the Bid, the spread will not change. Here is an interesting academic paper that explains the situation when spreads widen.

It seems to me that the MB Trading MT4 reliability has turned to crap! The latest problem: The connection went down at 17:46 ET(broker) time, and here it is 18:40and it's still down!

This BS is happening all too often IMO. I would have exited a trade in the black, but which is now solidly in the red (which I can only tell by looking at another broker feed what the market is doing).

MBT is going downhill fast.
