a warning to everyone trading the aud!
in a surprise call our prime minister julia gillard has been challenged to a leadership ballot at 7pm australian eastern time. There is a high probability she will be booted out of her seat as prime minister. This is major news and could move the market significantly watch out.

It's very hard to say because there is an election in September anyway. The current government has been an absolute embarrassment with Julia Gillard. If Kevin Rudd is appointed prime minister in 2 hours it may have a positive influence on the Aussie dollar. But very hard to say. Trades I predict will be all over the place when the news is released.

RSIOMA still shows m5-4h to be up. I think it will hit the 4hr cloud before turning south.

Rudd in Gillard out.
As this is a minority government, Rudd will now need to negotiate the support of the 3 independents before we know if Labor can hold government, may be an early election. Outcome wont be clear til we know where the independents throw their support.

Guys the australian government is a complete mess I can't beleive the Aussie isn't being sold sold sold. 10 ministers just resigned and the prime minister just got booted! There should be alot of mixed emotion on the market.

10 Ministers? please don't spread mis-information. 4 ministers have resgined, the treasurer (Wayne Swan, the deputy leader so was to be expected), the Information minister (Stephen Conroy, leader in the Senate so was to be expected), Craig Emerson (trade minister, who was sleeping with the PM while he was still married and was a staunch supporter, no surprise there) and Joe Ludwig (a junior minister).

3 or 10... doesn't matter. The fact is, this very scenario is playing out all across the globe. People who are supposed to be in charge... examples to the masses ; are falling short big time. People are scrambling for answers and all they get are bones thrown for them to fetch. Like dogs. Wow.... 3 with the prime minister to boot. Common'. Don't make light of it.

"3 or 10.. doesn't matter" Sorry, I guess I just like accurate reporting of facts. Also, if 3 represents 25% of the ministry and 10 represents 90%, you don't think that makes a difference in its gravity?

Sorry I don't get your smart arse reply? An unpopular PM was replaced by her own party and a couple of ministers resigned - no big deal. It would be different to say the whole/majority ministry resigned i.e. 10 ministers, that would lead to major instability that could affect the currency.


AND, she was replaced by the person that she stabbed in the back 3 years ago, not a new figure. For most Australians, it was righting a wrong done.
