thanks for you comment, when you say backtested do you mean every cross over was taken around the clock ? because these statistics sounds too good to be true ?

Ok guys I concluded our first rule for the MA system

We are going to trade the Daily chart with 20 and 50 SMA

Entry : when price closes above/below both MAs with a close > open for longs or close< open for shorts. We are not trading the crossover, and it doesn't matter if 50 above or below 20 MA, in actual fact have both MAs with same colour on your chart.

Reason : we are trying to capture momentum and avoid choppy market as much as possible.

by the way entry is the easiest part to solve ..lol

by the way what you use as your MA is irrelevant ie you can use 30 or 100 MA its the concept not the number , although you might get different results, long term it wont affect the outcome

i like the daily D1 Tf and Weekly TF......
keep it simple rule and strategy ................
if the price above ma we are looking to buy only and if the price below ma we are going to sell entry,
target should be 350, 500, or more ..... keep in the trade as long as the market momentum ....
i'm agree with you bro ... and your plan .....

I believe in the moving average strategy, I'm using the 5-day SMA, 9-day EMA and 21-day EMA

Of course they work. I've been using moving averages for 8 years. It's not the tool, it's the context in which you apply it, nothing works when you're wrong on market context and everything works when you're right.

This is already being done, but with good entry signal on 1 hour chart, see my signature link Trade Explorer

But today I have my doubts

i respect what you have done on your trading system , but.....

Let people create something with a different point of view although essentially the same, because it will result in something that might be more meaningful than what already exists ....

Thanks Erebus for referring to the above thread. I had a quick look and seems that the author did a lot of great work. I am not sure why you have your doubts today ?

Because Equity has been as high as $150,000 but can't seem to get going again, now Draghi speaks.....

They better work, been flogging MA based systems to death for years literally.

Trading off a M5 180sma and 20sma with a 20sma envelope of 0.1% currently, nice and simple, getting some interesting results so far, back testing results are pretty damn smokey so if I can get to 50% efficency, it should do me very nicely, about 20% at the moment but had a few months off so room for improvement hopefully!!
Nothing to it, but to do it!!! Stick to the plan FOOL!!!!

All the billion dollar CTAs uses MA/DONCHIAN CHANNELS/BOLLINGER BANDS/ATR BREAKOUTS.All these systems are similar in nature.

Trendfollowing produces an average of 25% p.a any more and you're risking too much unless 50-80% drawdowns float your boat.I remember Swagger saying Seykota produced a huge 15ft chart and showed the equity curve which had several 50%+ peak to trough drawdowns on his unbelievable journey from $15000 to
$15mio in his personal account.
