I know James has stated that it is very difficult to code these as there is subjectivity involved but I think at least some of them could be.

Waiting for a retracement means waiting for price to hit a retracement level (i.e., on the 38% level) to enter a trade.

Entering on a retracement is just one of the ways of (yes, you guessed it!) entering.
One can also enter when it breaks the pin.

Just to explain what it means when you say "breaks the pin"... in the attached chart, it means breaking the high of the pin bar (141.64) to the upside.

Anyway, I hope I've answered your question.

Thanks for teaching me another way of entry Eastmeal, chart and everything. Never came across break the pin yet. In a way this method is waiting for a more clear momentum direction before entering then. and also less risk then a 38% ret level it seems.

So do pin break levels then become resistance when its passed?

I've just finished reading every entry of this whole thread and I am speechless.

To stumble upon this by complete accident and find the information provided is stunning. I am over the moon!!

It's been mentioned all the way through the thread but at risk of boring everyone again - James - you are the man!

Great people, great posts, great information.

I can honestlly say that I am addicted to this thread and will be joining the PF and I predict I will also become an addict of that.

I just cannot put into words what I have learnt here and am forever grateful.

This is the best, most honest and open thread I have ever read (any subject, not just trading - although I don't subscribe to any honesty threads so I might be wrong!)

I just finished reading the thread from start to finish, also. Over the past weekend I feel I have learned about 10 times as much as I have in the past year! I have subscribed to this thread and will constantly be referencing it...until I can scrounge up the $139 to become a PF member, which I hope shouldn't be more than a couple weeks.

I presently trade on MT4. I know that some brokers offer FX, metals and CFD's, I think they're called, with the MT4. Does any one know of a free platform to trade the different things James trades besides Trade Station. That platform is expensive.

I think somewhere on the forum it was said that Tradestation is free if you have a funded account with them. I'm not sure. You will have to search or ask in the main forum.

Yes, TradeStation is free if you open a real account with them (though you have to trade a minimum of 100 mini lots/month or 10 lots/month).

the higher the time frame the easier and more reliable they tend to be. new traders should be on daily and weekly charts anyway. i catch hell everytime i say that but thats my opinion for what its worth.

all these bar patterns are what they are. they just look different with candles etc.
