27,000+ pips and counting and people are still looking to make changes and programming new EAs...????

Unbelievable!!!!!!!!

I really don't understand people. I've been seeing similar things going on in my other thread which I've been using to trade live funds for over a year and a half.

It is clear to me that there are two types of people in the FOREX industry. The people who like to create new strategies and program all the time and then there are others who like to make money.

You guys should seriously ask yourselves this question. Which type of person are you? The one who is always looking to fix something that isn't broken or do you like to make money?

I know what kind of person I am...

Just found this thread by suggestion. I think thats my new home..
Finally, you dont need more than candles and few EMAs to make the right decision..

Now first, i have to read from the beginning..

Please don't take offense, 100, but after only 39 days of testing, I hardly think this can be declared the untouchable HOLY GRAIL already. Even you said it needed to be tested for six months. So far it has done VERY, VERY well, and I don't see anyone complaining about the results. In fact, you're getting a lot of pats on the back so far as I can see. So why get irritated just because a few people are wanting to test other settings to see how it reacts to the market? After all, that is how one learns, is it not?

Rewind back just a couple days ago when you were down almost HALF of your first month's profit in one day... I believe you were down 13-15% from your high equity mark. There were a lot of people fretting all of a sudden. Fortunately for you (and everyone), the market decided to resume its long-term trends and profits once again returned. But what if it hadn't, and many or most of those positions had continued to stop loss? That very easily could have happened, and one day IT WILL, whenever the trends decide to do a u-turn. I'm not wishing ill on this method, because I am certainly hoping to use it extensively going forward just as many are, but to say that people should stop all testing and modifications after just over a month of running is a bit short-sighted in my opinion.

People post systems, because that are systems and their baby's. Developed with much brain pain and got burned into the brain.
With fixed rules and tested by them selves. Successful. If you change something, it starts to be a another system.

Then you can easily include Pivots, or Mac MC or Moonshine or..
Thats why people get irritated... A system XY is a System XY.
If you change something, it becomes System XX and its not the same
not proven not tested and not presented as it is..

I also like improvements of the system, but started to respect the Thread starter and his idea. If it is so, it is so.
I can make my own thread if i think i know it better..

To quote 100Pips himself (post #69): "Feel free to post your EA as long as it follows the rules and parameters listed in the first post. Also, keep in mind that I will DEFINITELY need to make some changes to this EA during the next few months for optimal results. I am literally forward testing a brand new strategy which SHOULD NOT be used in live trading regardless of the results so far."

This is all I am also saying... sometimes parts of a system can be optimized, i.e. exit strategies, ideal TP/SL levels, etc. Revising the EAs to include optional parameters allows people to test these things. Assuming that we are already looking at the final product goes against what 100 Pips himself stated earlier in the thread, unless he has indeed changed his mind on that. At the end of the day, we are all in this together, trying to get the best system/results, right?

All that said, I am completely in favor of following the thread starter's wishes on this. Not trying to cause trouble for 100Pips here...

Hi 100pips, First of all, thank you so much of your sharing. I am used to confuse how to apply EA, but I feel easy to handle this EA. I just started this EA on 3/Jun (demo of course). I feel awesome of the result after 24hours started. I am not good in PASR, so perhaps able to learn from you or other members. For AUDUSD, will you disable the EA? 1. after more than 700pips down with less retrace (from daily) 2. support reached (from weekly) 3. after 4 positions open (My maximum is 8 and yours should have more than 4 open trades as my writing) For...

I have disabled the EA for ALL pairs except for USD/JPY and the JPY cross pairs.

Not sure when I will enable these pairs again but it could be a few more weeks, could be less. Go here to learn more about PASR: http://www.stratsforextrading.com/dokuwiki/doku.php

As for EUR/GBP I am no longer testing this pair as I never really traded it live anyways. It moves too slow for my liking...

Scott,

No offense taken. I posted the above statement knowing that some people just have to program but I did say it needs to follow rules and parameters listed in the first post. Unfortunately there are more than 5 EAs that I can tell that have been floating around this thread since its inception and it is going to start causing confusion for people trying to follow this strategy.

I don't think that this strategy (or any for that matter) is a "Holy Grail" but please show me another system that has produced more pips in this short amount of time. I can disable it for the next year and the return in % and total amount of pips beats 95% of the systems that are floating around on the net...

I can say though for a fact that the Third Screen Strategy has proven to be reliable and extremely profitable and due to the fact that this particular strategy is very similar in nature I don't see this being too far behind in regards to profitability and sustainability in the long run. Yes it is new, yes I'm still forward testing, but the results speak for themselves.

As for the other day's draw down, that is only normal when trading 20 pairs! If it moved against me that would have been completely understandable and acceptable, but the fact of the matter is it didn't! Why? because we are on the right side of the trend! Now I have disabled most pairs (with the exception of JPY pairs) so I could sit out for the next 3 months if I wanted to and still be fine with it.

Another thing to consider is that if you are here in this thread it tells me two things: Either 1, you enjoy trying new systems and strategies and are looking to program and fine tune new systems as a hobby. Or 2, you have come across a system that is proving itself in terms of sustainability and profitability and are looking to make money with it. If it is the latter one then don't spend too much time or energy looking to change things around as the swing trade / trend trading concept is not going to change with a few tweaks here and there. I have already made over $130k since August 2012 with the Third Screen Strategy on my live accounts and this is not too different from it. Let's all try and keep it simple and make money trading FOREX.

EA is starting to give signals to short sell against JPY. Are you going to short sell?

Money Money money
Ironically I don't care much for Money it's just the currency we use at this point in time.

We lived for three weeks with out Power, Water or Sewerage for 3 week during the earthquakes that ruined our city.
And two years of nastiness on top of that
We survived, actually pretty well because we had the knowledge to.

I Love the IDEA full stop

I can sit here and create cash out of thin air, seriously think about it ? that's why so many people hate us traders. I use this great strategy to further my trading knowledge.
I use it manually as well as the EA

Trade it your own way SL TP I look at a pair and if I think it may reverse then I take out say half of the position and let the rest go

I DO IT MY WAY

You guys should do it yours

Thanks 100 pips great system it may reverse on us one day who knows that's the market for now enjoy
I do Good I feel GoodI do Bad I feel Bad
