Exactly, I wait for the new daily bar and check it. If EUR/USD closes above, I will close manually any EUR/USD Sell opened trade (if SL not close them before..... really close to do it).

Looks like this week turned out to be another great week!

Floating profit of about 3,000 pips and up a total of roughly 5% for the week.

I couldn't ask for more...

Hope everybody else is enjoying this strategy as much as me. Also, if you haven't already, check out my other thread "Third Screen Strategy." I use that particular swing trading strategy for my live accounts and have been making money for close to 2 years now utilizing that method.

Closed out manually just as this is a new broker to me just finding way around. Doubled a 5k account in three days though. Impressive.

Hey 100pips.

You bet we're enjoying this method. Please keep up your testing of it, we're doing it too on our end. I'm battling the urge to put it to the test on a real account; Just a little more testing first. Your other thread is good too, but I prefer this one personally. MACD seems to have more frequent trend-shifts, and I'm the slower kind of trader. But I still use it on a second demo.

Way to go 100pips.

Claudia, just curious how many pairs you were/are trading.

Do you know what % risk you had per pair if you open 8 opsitions per pair?

I have decided to go for fewer pairs, Eur/Jpy, Eur/Usd, Gbp/Aud as these tend to trend
and risk 5% per pair if 8 positions are open.

I've opened up my live test account. Have about 19 positions opened so far. Up about 2%. We'll see how she rolls. I do like Caillou's idea of closing after the EMA's are crossed. HP...what's your thoughts on that.

I trade live with IG in the UK who unfortunately don't use MT4. So just opened account with Alpari - what you saw was my demo account with them. Going live on Monday but no more than 2% across maybe 20 pairs. I personally think going for fewer pairs is wrong look at the results on the nzd crosses. Anyway time will tell - good luck.

I´m trying a different approach too. Since we are trading a good number of pairs (17 in my case), I´m going to trade them as a basket. Usually some pairs will trend while others will range so maybe we can wait for the trending pairs to win more pips than the pips lost by the ranging pairs.......

So I´m going to try with a Total TP and a Total SL for all positions opened. This morning my first basket was closed, not bad at all.......

Congratulations, yes, a turnaround from early in the week, or really, a continuation of the trends is more like it.

Up above, weekly is more like 11% now and all time +31%

The demo I have been running for a few weeks now closed out some GBP-AUD earlier, and quite a few positions are getting close to target.

Anyone just joining, you have let the winners run

Caillou, that is exactly what I have been doing. Once I reach a certain percentage profit (I have been doing 3.3%), I close all orders and start fresh. To those of you thinking about limiting the number of pairs, I am not sure I would do that. One of the things that makes this method work is the diversity of the basket of currencies. As Caillou said, some are inevitably ranging, but some will be trending. The problem is that you can't really know for certain when a certain pair will begin trending, so it's better to stay in the market with ALL of them. The key is to just lower your risk per trade, i.e. DON'T GET GREEDY! I am in the U.S. and can only trade on 50:1 margin, so I am forced to be conservative. I am trading .01 micro lots per $1,000 in my demo account per trade. At the moment I am up a bit over 10% since May 9. That is more than enough per month to build wealth if it can be repeated consistently. The person who said they doubled 5k account in three days is way over-leveraged, and will eventually sustain major losses on his account trading that way. Just a matter of time. Better to get rich slow than not at all.
Prices are never too high to begin buying or too low to begin selling.

That's a very nice looking screen - letting the winners run is going to be key for this strategy and is one of the more difficult mental shifts to make for most traders.

I am still running with the live account testing and manual trade entries with earlier closes, but so far every one of my trades that were closed for 50 to 100 pips would still be running and would be considerably higher pip earners. Great re-enforcement of the overall approach.

How long are you planning to run the demo?

May I ask what is your analysis platform? And could you explain more details about your Basket Trade? It seems like a great idea. Thank you.

I'm happy for your results, thehenryfam, but if you operate like this (3.3% global TP), what would your SL be? According to 100pips' r/r 2.4%. A little tight for a long term strategy don't you think?

Claudia1, I see your lots were .50. What leverage figure (50:1 maximum here in the US) was used in the demo account you doubled in 3 days?

TheHenryFam, are you using the EA's default MaxPositions setting of 8 with the lots at .01 on that $1K account?

thehenryfam, interesting post, I was the one that mentioned trading 3 pairs that tend to trend but maybe it does require using this strategy with more, say 17 pairs.

When you mentioned trading with 0.01 lots per $1000, how many pairs are you trading?

I have a £4000 account so trying to work out how many pairs I could trade with 0.01 lots with max 8 positions per pair.
