no fill issues ....I can only speak for myself....i use pfl....mbt has an annoying rollover/restart after every NYclose lasts only abt. 5-7 minutes...i restart platform after every rollover and abt twice a day...since the Desktop Pro with open chart is a little memory hog ....use mt4 for charting...DeskTopPro for order entry...takes a little to learn but nice order possibilities/features.... hope this helps.....

don't understand why oanda all of a sudden has these higher variable spread issues..used to be much better....maybe it will change again...bcs using two brokers is not a bad idea...and oanda provides good liquid charting data .....

Yeah, I don't understand it either. I've used Oanda since 2007, never had a reason to change until now. Their trading platform can't be beat, but the spreads are killing me lately.

I've downloaded the MB Trading platform and will demo for a while. Thanks for your help.

Different day, same story. Good way to shake out open positions and go for the stops. On USD/CAD ist was even 20.
All the time around 16:00 - 17:00 GMT-5

I wanted to ask whether it's possible to set a default 2% risk based on SL on the mobile fxtrade. I am tired of continuous calculations.

actually, you can do it by going to mobile app settings and selecting SL in % from your balance.

I've seen they have a trade size type called percent leveraged NAV .I don't understand what the settings for the trade size is.for example if I want to risk 2% what size should I input ?

I don't understand this ad from 0anda. They charge/pay swap. They may not call it swap (they call it interest), but it is the same thing. Are they trying to bait idiots? I guess idiots make the best customers so maybe.

I'm having a tough time finding someone to sign the ID certification form in order to open a live account. The part that makes it difficult is how it has to come from someone of a certain profession. Is this a common requirement among most brokers?

yep, same thing, after all, swap is pretty much just interest. however, they charge interest very frequently actually, by the hour or something like that. i placed three trades on their demo and saw over 20 interest charges,some in my favor, some against. eitherway, better for short term trading or if you have a huge capital because otherwise the interest will eat a portion of your capital away.

They calculate swap by the second, but that is a different topic.

If you make the distinction between price structure and price level, then I think Oanda wins on structure and loses on level. By which I mean that the way in which Oanda explains and calculates interest/roll/swap is intuitive, clear and (I think) fair as compared with other brokers which I have looked at. But the actual values (the interest rates) which Oanda applies are worse than many brokers.

Oanda does not try to flatter us as users into thinking we are pro's. It treats us as intelligent amateurs. It junks most of the industry jargon (there's no reference to "roll" or to "lots" within the Oanda trading environment) and explains in crystal clear detail what it is doing. Interest is applied per second, on open positions and on the cash balance sitting on your account. The interest rates (today and historically) are separately available. They are not mashed up into a daily roll, which is triple on a Wednesday and zero at the weekends (why?) and quoted per lot/mini-lot/micro-lot. You can drill right down into what Oanda are doing and it all hangs together.

That's a bit different with, for example, FXCM which I have recently been trialling with two live accounts. Their trading platforms and support pages are hopelessly inconsistent about what a "lot" is.

  1. FXCM LLC (in the US) quotes one figure as my "pip cost per lot". FXCM Ltd (in the UK) quotes a figure which is a factor of ten greater. And neither is right (one is actually cost per mini-lot, the other per micro-lot).
  2. According to FXCM's support pages, their platform quotes roll per lot; actually the figures quoted are per mini-lot. I pointed this out to a support agent a month ago who said that they had changed the way it was quoted. The support pages have still not been updated.

If you try to drill down into the support pages at FXCM you hit confusion and black holes.

So, I am with Oanda and still looking for a second broker with (a) straight through processing to a good range of liquidity providers and (b) decent roll/swap/interest levels. Thinking I will try Interactive Brokers next, but I don't want to have to buy a "Windoze" computer to trade currencies. Any advice happily received.

PK, you might try asking your question regarding using an alternative OS with the TWS on the TWSAPI list. I've seen some posts from some who seem to be doing this.

If you want to put 2% then do it from Balance or NAV (your balance +/- floating profit or loss). I am not sure if it is fixed or if it constantly changes due to changes in NAV.

Yes, I am seeing the same thing.

In fxTrade Practice the Activity window has not updated since 20th May. It should at least be recoding interest transactions every day.
In my live fxTrade account the Activity window is updating as usual as each transaction takes place.
