Not sure, probably. I try and avoid following the news related to my trades and just focus on the CZ.

That is the base philosophy of SSBO. It does not matter which way it goes, just as long as it does go, and we certainly cannot stop it going.

Here's my trade from last night.

I found this trade interesting in that it shows the "Revenge Arc" that ForexHard has mentioned a few times. Once 10 bars had closed inside the previous CZ I set pending orders on both side. However it went on to create another CZ. I left my pending orders where they were from the 10 bar close, the new CZ would have shifted them a little, but I was asleep and left it to run. Hit my 30 pips and now on to wait for the next setup.

I have to agree with Jayf19 here SedonaPipper. I like the way that you are throwing the ball back. It has caused me tore-assess my thinking about the market. You have a good way of posing thought provoking questions. Please keep it up. I enjoy it and think that its a wonderful contribution.

Trading is paradox, you have to think in order to create a plan that is yours and yours alone. You have to create it, execute it, and live with it. Not many people are able to perform all three tasks effectively which is why so few people succeed as traders. The focus of my retorts is to stimulate people to work on their plan instead of trading. Once you have a solid plan that works for you, trading becomes really boring.

One of the reason newbee traders want an ea is because they don't want to do the work of being a trader. An ea is only as good as the data put into its variables.

I don't know that I fully agree with this statement. I can tell you from this newbie traders perspective, and yes I am very much a newbie, I don't want an EA because I don't want to put the work in. I am fully prepared to test and work and find the settings that work for me and the way I want to trade, but I would like an EA to help remove the psychological aspect that I have problems with. I like the fact that I still have to put my work in and define when and what setup I want to trade, but once I have made my mind up, I would love to have an EA take care of the rest of it for me. Because I always want to second guess myself and chase more profits, or exit early because I see a slight reversal, etc......

So far I have been able to overcome these feelings, but its not easy. I want more profits, but I keep reminding myself that I just made 30 pips and with proper MM and Lot sizing 30 pips can be plenty. Yes I could have had 75 or 100 or 50, but 30 can be plenty. But to me an EA is an easy way for me to separate myself from the psychological aspect of it........

Just my thoughts... right or wrong....

So you are telling me that an EA will allow you to take trades and not have to look at them while they are still open? You won't ever feel the urge to see what's going on, what's happening that is out of your control?

I don't see how an EA can help you if you are not confident in what the indie is currently telling you (entry / exit), but more importantly, what your naked eye tells you.

The ONLY benefit I see from using an EA, for myself, is to give me more sleep (maybe); period. I think seeing it as a way to improve your psyche is an extra crutch, and an extra illusion given that it's not available, and you (some) might perceive it as a holy grail that will solve all our problems.

You don't need an EA... you need a plan.

Here is the interesting thing, I have to have my emotions to even enter a trade. All this talk about being an emotional robot in trading is marketing genious. The belief that I have to be an emotional robot is what keeps me looking for the holy grail. My emotions are intigral to my tenacity to keep going with an endeavor that causes me so much pain when done wrong. How can I seperate myself from my psychlogical nature? It is an experencial part of who I am - For me trading is not about overcoming my feelings, its about excepting the feelings I have and living with them, its about finding out where my emotional boundaries are. My trading plan, when done correctly, defines my emotional boundaries and in time I have learned to stretch those boundaries as I gain confidence in my plan. Hence FH's requirement to not change ones settings for 100 days. His requirement is pure genious because I am learning about the nature of who I am and how to stretch my boundaries with confidence.
