I would go with Armada Markets excellent execution and service. IC Markets mmmmmmmmm wouldnt waste my time with this broker. Im sure they will do jack about what happened on Friday and will not look after their traders. I have found some of the overseas brokers more trader friendly than the aussie brokers.

As long as you trade only small account they may be OK

I use their Real ECN account

- low spread
- low commission

So far I haven't read of anything really bad about armada except their regulation, most of the comments seems to be positive and when there is a problem it seems that their support actually acts quickly to refund the problems.

Dear Client,

This email contains important information relating to a recent notice from Metaquotes regarding the Metatrader 4 platform.

Metatrader 4 tools

Metaquotes, the technology provider behind the Metatrader 4 platform announced on Friday the 5th April 2013 that it would be blocking the use Metatrader 4 tools provided by MT4i and other service providers. IC Markets utilises some of MT4i’s Metatrader 4 tools such as the “One-Clicker”, Depth of Market and MT4 Connect. The announcement from Metaquotes is not clear as to whether or not these tools will stop working from the 15th of April (Monday) or if they will only stop working from future builds of the MT4 platform. We are seeking clarification on this and will update clients accordingly.


DLL files

In Metaquotes announcement they also gave reference to DLL/EXE files in the client terminals and the “forced activation of DLL calls with changes in the program’s default settings”. Some commercial expert advisors use DLL and EXE files for the installation of files and security of the intellectual property (trading logic). Some expert advisors may also use DLL files to bring extra functionality to the MT4 terminal and or manipulate the way the MT4 terminal communicates with the MT4 server.

We will be sending out a new MT4 installer Shorty if we feel the current install file may be compromised in any way. We’ll keep you updated on any information as necessary.

Ok they are giving me a credit for the loss I suffered due to their server problems but they have not considered that the trade would have closed in profit.
It sux but I can live with that, there will be other opportunities to make money.

I still have my pepperstone account open and have been trading with them while ICMarkets are sorting out their server issues.
I considered closing the account but I won't do it.
I will give them another go because I've been with other brokers before and they have all suffered server outages (but not to the same extend).
Plus my money will be much safer in Australia.

How does the spread and commission compare between Pepperstone and IC Markets? I'm under HFTGroup's discounted rate of $5.50 per round lot at IC Markets.

(If you can commit enough monthly volume with minimum $10,000 account IC Markets also gave $5 per round lot, but that's not publicly available.)

I'm under HFT as well.
ICMarkets charges are a bit lower but it depends on the currency pair.
ICM is ideal for scalping and EAs because of their low spread and zero pip stop

It looks like the mini trading terminal will stop working on Monday when MT4 will be updated next
and it will be a pitty as I use the single click and OCO functions.
To get around this issue don't update your Metatrader 4 when prompted to.
Instead, go to your C drive, open your Metatrader folder and delete the liveupdate.exe file.
After doing this, my MT4 doesn't ask me to update it

If it will work the same way as in metatrader 5, then you will not be able to disable updates regardless of what you do. somebody asked them on metatrader 5 forum how to disable automatic update and was ignored (no answer to that question nor to the question if there will be an option to disable that "automatic update" in any version)

So, after all, it seems that they do not want us to decide what version (build) we would like to use. Since that (the simple question "There is update available, do you want to update?") is a part of any normal application in the wast world of applications, the lack of it (the question, choice and decision) is rather strange at the least

Been with IC Markets for a couple of weeks now trading a client's account. Very fast execution, spreads are impressive and honest as far as I can tell, and fixed round-turn commissions of 0.7 pips round turn, ALL currency pairs. There are supposed to be ways to reduce this if you go with certain rebate groups. And then again if you have like 5000+ standard lot lot monthly volume and API access, you can get 0.2 pip commissions. Never a single disconnection issue; am using CNS's 'on net' service

I think I can get them to cover some or all of the costs of the CNS VPS service. I do not know the exact volume thresholds, but I will find out next month.

can you please elaborate.

As far as I know, with uk broker your deposit is insured by government. Not in AU.

When broker goes down in AU, it is not pretty for clients.

I said this because the Australian banks are VERY profitable.
At the same time, customer funds are kept separately from broker funds (that's the ASIC rule)
so a broker going down doesn't mean that your money dissapears.

UK broker deposits insured?
Never heard of that, can you show me some evidence?

profitable does not necessarily equate with safe.

The Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS) is the UK's compensation fund of last resort for customers of authorised financial services firms. If a firm becomes insolvent or ceases trading, the FSCS may be able to pay compensation to its customers. The FSCS covers business conducted by firms authorised by the FSA.

IG clients would fall under the 'investments' claim category, whereby the cover is £50,000 per person per firm. If a client held an account with an authorised investment firm and there was a shortfall in segregation, they might still receive up to £50,000 in compensation.

my research at time suggested AU clients covered too. But now not sure.

I received an email from IC Markets

Additional MT4 Server

IC Markets will be migrating part of its existing MT4 business to an additional MT4 server in the NY4 data centre in New York on the weekend of the 27th & 28th of April. Clients being moved to the new server will be notified of this via email within the next week. The new server is being added to keep up with the demands of our clients and ensure we can continue to provide a market leading True ECN trading environment. There will be no changes to pricing or any trading conditions, however we expect an improvement in server performance and order processing speeds.

hopefully this will solve the so called 'terminal freezing problem' members been having. i did not experience this, but many others did and hopefully this will put an end to that or at least dramatically reduce the frequency.
