That's the hardest part of this system, picking a BE and deciding how much profit to leave on the table. I had a retracement sell trade off the M15 yesterday that went +700 before returning to BE. In the past though when I've set my trailing stop to say 200 pips I'd get stopped out at +700 only to watch the trade run for another 3000.........

That is tough. I just tell myself not to be greedy. I have my trailing set to 10% which is a pretty wide berth, and then as the pips climb I close it in a bit, but if you get a run of 1000-1500 pips and it retraces and you get 30%-50% of that, 500-700 pips in one to two days?! That's more than more traders get in a month of trading. So, I'll take what I can get even if you miss out on the huge 3000 runners, but you get 1/4 of that, hey, that's good enough for this guy.

Hi Mr.Dud

Trading the basket in a 15M chart should be based on TP and not based on BE. This is my personal opinion. Let be explain. One can not expect the market trend in a direction for too long a period. So it is meaning less to have a trailing or BE. Coming to TP, this should be set to the nearest S/R levels. Pocket the profits made when the market reaches those S/R levels and look for re-entry. There are plenty of entry opportunities in 15 M chart.

Your recent trade made +700 pips and then retraced to BE. As MM a micro lot would have got you $70 in a $1000 account. That is about 7%. That is really a best trade. You should have taken that profit instead allowing the market to hit the BE. Fix a target of say 5% per trade and look for S/R level to trade a basket in a 15M chart.

Am I correct? Please correct me if I am wrong.

No FX, you are correct. You give sound MM advice. It's worth noting though I manage trades off the H1. I only use the M15 for re-entries in the direction of the H1 signals.

How big a stop loss do you guys have and for how many pairs?

Personaly I agree with Fx, but I also think breaking even is very important as a safety requirement.

I have this basic question in my mind ever since I started reading this thread. Since this thread started in Oct'12 the market started moving upwards. To be specific the up movement started on 13th Nov until end of Jan. Basket trading in this trend appeared to be profitable. I have no access to any basket trading records prior to Nov'12. Performance of any system can be assessed based on trades done during one complete cycle of 12 months period.

From 1st Feb'13 onwards market is oscillating without any clear direction. How do you assess the basket trading outcome if the market keeps oscillating? Do we have to change trading strategy like switch over to scalping the basket in lower time frame?

In general the present set up is profitable. However, we are losing out profits made in each trade by whipsaw price action. Can you please through some light into this aspect of basketing for the benefit of all basketers.

Hello,

Can somone tell me what would the SL and BE values on H4 chart?

I know kos was using 40 pip per pair on 15 min chart (so totally 560 SL) and BE at 150, but i am more inclined into H4 and am looking for the value at this timeframe.

Any help would be appreciated..

I have been dabbeling in 2 3 2 4, but you're right. It gets you in some pretty sweet trades. I like to do my full lot size with 2 25 2 25 and then sort of scalp with 2 3 2 4 with the core 5.

Funny, I've been testing 2.4.2.4 for the last month until trialing 2.25.2.25 from the start of the week. For the EA Tnavi I just modify the !TLE_HAS_KOS indicator to use 2.4.2.4 and rename it. I then modified the T101 EA to look for the new TLE and rename the T101 EA too. I've done it for a few different HAS variables. That way I can run tests for a heap of different settings at once.

I havent treated the baskets I trade any differently than I would trade a single currency. The reason the HA's do better when the market is trending is because its designed to pick up the trend. Any system that solely depends on a trend to be established will have its bad times when the market isnt trending so well.

I have been using the basket charts with my normal strategy which is the genesis strategy with great results.

I've been playing with the Vqzz setting to find the optimal one. Right now I've got it on tf 60 for the H1 chart with the eint smoothing set higher and waiting for the second bar of a color change to enter. I actually just entered long (in Core 5 demo) with these settings, but it seems short to me. We'll see!!
