Hi and thanks for your posts, it is good to get feedback

ALMO, when you say I was early, do you mean early in the trade, ie , wait for more indicators ,

or early in the morning, like 6:55,??? Should I wait until the London opens ???

Cheers, Steve

P.S. thanks Krypty for your post, I shall look at bigger t/f

No, I meant, you jumped in , and the market whipsawed for a bit, before finally going in the intended direction.

You got the idea of what a good trade looks like - you just have to accept that it may take a few attempts before a valid trend starts.

Cheers Almo, thanks for your helpful answer,

I realise now that I jumped in too early, thanks for pointing that out, will need to learn to wait

with regard to time of day, I am in Australia and I seem to miss out on London/New york session times, would you say that this a hindrance,??

should I trade any time of the day and night,????

thanks for your opinions, theyy are truly welcomed

Steve

Well...I live in the States and I always miss the London open. There are times when I wake up and I get all pissy cuz I missed a move during the London session...then there are days when I wake up and think "wow...nothing happened overnight"

I'd be more concerned about trying to live a normal life while your attempting this - your going to find yourself wanting to stay glued to the screen. It takes discipline to know when to stop , when to unplug, etc.

5 min charts are way too bumpy if you ask me. Use 4H or higher, it is all you need.

hello,

i noticed one thing : whatever the timeframe used I have to wait that the tenkan-sen go out of the cloud if it isn't, it's a false signal. be careful on this.

sorry for my english, it isn't my native language.

Which currencies pairs have you had the most success with ichimoku?

I've backtested several pairs with a mechanical system and found EURUSD to be most profitable on the 1 hour chart. AUDJPY can also be profitable, depending on the settings I use. GBPUSD does not seem to work well, and crosses such as AUDNZD lose. Even USDJPY is not profitable.

The system is prone to whipsaws like other MA crosses. Adding certain filters helps, but still some or most of the pairs I listed are still unprofitable with my filters, multiple timeframe analysis etc.

Any advice from a mechanical point of view? I'm asking because a robust system needs to work with any currency pair in any market condition, in case of over optimisation.

maybe you should adjust your TP and SL. money management can make and break a system. scaling in and out. also you can adjust your position size based on how strong the signals are too.

Nice Scalps, looks like you do them on the Kumo breaks.

Do you use a filter to not enter certain trades?

Just happen to come across this thread its hard to find just Ichi traders. I thought i would throw in my 2 cents.

I trade inch with a 5,3,5 setting but use Renko Bars instead of the standard candle. I have traded candles but switched over to renko only as a personal preference. I trade on a cloud cross and target 20-30 pips per move with a hard stop loss of 15. I only trade the London and USA opens.

I am attaching the trades i took this morning for the US session. Both losses but i know from trading that Mondays tend to be slow moving and losses are part of the game. I look forward to the continued discussion on here.
