Wow today would have been a great day for trading... what a waste that I didn't catch any of it! I am away on business until Tuesday and will only be trading on Wednesday and Thursday before jetting off again. Some thoughts:

1.EUR/USD bearish engulfing candle on the weekly chart indicates downtrend is in place. I am still short until I see a turning point.
2.USD/JPY has gapped up on open but retraced down to form a bearish engulfing pattern on the daily chart (beware buyers). If we see this pattern come through on the weekly chart we will be in for some wild times

well.. very nice. Missed a whole boatload of pips on E/J as well as the breakout I was anticipating! Let's see if the downside continues tomorrow.

I am looking for a base to form and some sort of indication to go long (ideally a bullish piercing candle with bullish divergence on stochs)

One important tenet that Tom DeMark repeats is that markets tend to top on good news and bottom on bad news. I believe that fundamentally we have seen cable bottom on bad news (downgrade of UK debt by Moody's). I think the next two weekly candles will be very telling in confirming a reversal to the upside.

My Gold longs are on the razor's edge.. this happens when you don't wait for the full signal (bullish divergence) to form. Unfortunately I jumped in too early and with too-big of a position.

stopped out on Gold. Lesson learnt: wait for the setup to be fully formed before entering with guns blazing.
