At the moment I am 32 pips green but that's because a last minute 80 pip dump probably only on Oanda 30 minutes before they closed. With weekly close @ 141.65, Interbank which closes earlier shows weekly close of 142.44

Just found out there was a Moody's down grading of UK bond rating from AAA to AA1

I know this is the GBP/JPY thread, but I would like to bring your attention to another GBP cross: GBP/NZD

Since the beginning of 2009, the pound has lost over 10.000 (yes, 10.000) pips against the NZD, and is now cleared its all time historical low of 1.8632. In other words there is no known support at present levels, and or there is no more bottom for the pair:

GBP/NZD Historical Monthly

IMO this offers a unique opportunity which should not be ignored, if not for a trade, then at least for educational purposes.

What is the future "real value" of the pair, and who will buy at levels which are singularly uncharted? Of course as long GBP continues to tumble against its counterparts, it's highly likely that this cross will decline, but just where is the bottom now?

AUD/USD did the same thing in 2010/2011 to the upside, and I'm sure if you look for other examples of break outs from historical levels you'll find them. You will also notice that each break gives at least a couple hundred pips continuation, with a reversal opportunity.

Sorry for the thread-jack, but I think it was worthy of a mention.

PS: I originally posted this in the Cable thread, but thought it could also be of interest here.

I don't put much stock into "pre-open" quotes, but it's been climbing back all morning according to them.

It seems to be bolstered by USD/JPY strength which is being driven by Kuroda leading the pack.

Yea I dont know if new highs will be reached, just that it opens up and I profit is all I care.. If there is a sell off after the fact, I'll short, if there is a rally I will stay long.. Just making money is all I care.

Yeah, the problem is we're in a tug-of-war. Sterling is down big since Friday's close which is hindering any real, solid rally.

EDIT: Nevermind... Something is wrong with Oanda rates... LOL
