This is a copy of a msg I posted yesterda AM on FXCM-MB Trading
once again this AM I submitted a market order, ..(8123132) and the could never insert stop loss, or profit target. matter of fact I could not even close order, continually got off quotes???finall I called order desk (after waiting ) and had order closed before it went wild against me..the clerk indicated the meta 4 platform was having problems. This is about thee 4th/5th time this has happened, this AM I just happened to end up with a profit instead of a loss.
I guess it's time to find me a new broker

I feel for you... it sucks when your tools won't work.

Get rid of MT4 and your problem will be solved.

Desktop is under-appreciated by those who do not invest the time to learn it. Even so, I don't like its charting and choose to use Ninjatrader to chart.

You'll find a several more platform choices under that are compatible with MB here:

http://www.mbtrading.com/partnerprogram.aspx

Click the charting and analytics tab on that page and a host of alternatives besides Desktop will appear. You will find things exist beyond MT4 that are far superior.

Ditto what Crassius said. I have 5 accounts with MB. MT4 is crap software, which isn't MB's fault. It brings newbies into the FX world. More forward.

MotiveWave has just added support for MB Trading as well, but they are not on the alternate Charting/analysis page yet. I haven't demoed it yet, but needled them to add support for MB, and they now have on their website that MB is fully supported.

Can one trade off the charts with MBT like Oanda Fx Trade? Downloaded MBT Desktop Pro. Looks like overkill with stuff but not a real fast way of getting a trade in scalping.

My scalping setup is below. Instead of trading off of charts, you can click the Level II window (it will prefill order prices in order entry window)
and send many types of orders (or set Limit orders with 1/10 of a pip accuracy). You can cancel and choose different limits or market quickly.
You can use the OneClick trading function (on left) and use market or limit orders.
As you learn the platform, you can setup "hotkeys" to tie order functions to keystrokes, improving your speed.
There is no better retail platform than MB Trading's Navigator Pro for scalping in my opinion.
Oanda is simpler with less versatility... and a "bucket shop" environment with generally higher spreads (EUR/USD).

Since the introduction of their variable spreads, EURUSD is considerably higher.

Is this kind of market depth the norm now? When i had an account (years ago) there would be between 20 and 30 million on each side. Now its only 6 to 7 million, judging from your screenshot. Looks like they are down to only 2 or 3 banks quoting prices on MBT?

I'd say it is on average, 10 million per side. I wouldn't necessarily view each price level as an individual bank though.
Things constantly change every second, or fraction of a second, obviously.
The high-frequency component of the quoted market is probably much greater than it was even 2 years ago.

There are not levels and levels of prices to sift through, no.
Again, I think this is the result of liquidity providers or any high-frequency players (individual or small group)
using better technology to capture inefficiencies, thus everyone has to "step up" their game or widen their spreads.

We have seen both I believe. Only two years ago, it seemed easy to get 0.9 pips spread EUR/USD,
now brokers will tell you it is a function of volatility or uncertainty.

I believe it is a question of speed. We have higher spreads now (at the retail level).
The people who provide those spreads, I believe are at greater risk, to being run over by "speed", thus they require more compensation.

I would love for more active retail customers to show up at MB Trading, thus reducing our spread
because of the possibility of customer-to-customer order interaction (EXN = "ECN").

(all of the above is only my opinion based upon observations over the last 4 years)

Thanks for the time and effort. The above looks good. I have set up many MB desktop pro's so far and have been picking away at it. It's starting to make sense. I'm using the demo now until I'm confident in it. Been dragging the stop limit order lines up and down the chart. Make 15-20 trades per week with FxTrade but don't like the negative stuff about Oanda. Fact or fiction it's time for an ECN.

Is anyone using the mobile platform?

For the past few days I haven't been able to access the orderbook. It either times out telling me "Operation Could Not Be Completed" or it claims I don't have any open orders, although if I am at home I can see on my PC that I do in fact have open orders. Very frustrating when I want to modify/cancel open orders and don't have access to a PC, I have to call the helpdesk to have them do anything I need.
