I'm a day trader and 2 pip spread is ok for me, even a little over it would not hurt.

I understand that what is ok for me may not be ok for somebody else but I believe these people complaining about 0.5 pip mark up are trying to be high frequency traders .
So, you think you have rights? LOL
It's just a human nature Give people 0.1 spread ant still somebody will start complaining about untradable conditions
no one is asking 0.1 pip, but only wish Oanda stay competitive, or just stay the same as before. Also consider the liquidity improving and technology, spread should be better not worse.

Giving the context that Oanda will go to "liquidate event", this could be a reason to make some money before sell?
How to close all positions at once with Oanda MT4 ? i've added a script but didnt work ....

and watch the live spreads for brokers outside the US, for EUR/USD I see

Since people in the US are now forced to only use US brokers (for our own good), the US brokers are bumping up their spreads. On the same website, right now, US brokers are charging

on the SAME currency other brokers outside the US are charging way less than 1.0. How can this be?

The liquidity is improving, the technology is improving, why are we getting screwed in the US?
since the latest java update i have problems with oandas fxtrade platform.

after a few hours of nice trading suddenly i can not open new buy/sell windows and the ones already open dont work.

after logout and login it is working again.

anyone with the same problems?

I am not sure it is about Java update but I have the same problem with 3 computers.

The same problem started this wk after 1 year without any incident. It stalls after 3 to 5 order clicks.
I increased my account size last week and it started and totally messed up this morning London session.

Oanda suggested:
1. Clear the Cache in the Java View history.
2. Install the FxTrade App.

I did these two and the same problem.

3. Delete the Java and reinstall.
4. Reinstall the FxTrade App.

This is what I am trying to do later when session is done.

Any other guys?

Java released ver. 7.13 somewhere within this week...

i have this with win xp as well as with win 7 computers...

first i thought wireless lan causes the problem. changed to lan cable, same problem...

i will downgrade java on one machine and see monday how it works...

I totally deleted all Java update and reinstalled in 1 machine.

When I talked to one agent in livechat, one agent was suggesting to downgrade to the prev. Java
if this does not work.
We will see if which one fixes.

Btw, what is the safetest way to go back to the prev. Java do you think?
Going back to the prev. recovering point with Window function or deleting new update, or any other safe choice?

I haven't noticed any issues with the latest java myself.. but I'm using the fxTrade Desktop Preview setup now instead of the web launched version.

For the longest while I avoided using the Preview version in case there's major bugs that affect my trades, but I've been using it over the last few months and find it runs a lot better overall.. Plus, we're talking Oanda here, the "new" features in beta aren't tearing down the walls within their platform anytime soon... just small additions and code fixes before they get committed into production.

In my case, I'm not complaining about the size of the spread. I have no problems with 2 or 3 pips. But if you trade GBP/USD and use limit orders then sometimes the spread is 0.9 and just at the other moment it's at around 3. That's what going on my nerves and that's really a pity because the order execution is A+ and the software is ok too.
Not acceptable, at least by me. Fluctuating way too much. Better choices out there. Oanda's changing and getting greedy. Going from 0.9 to 1.8 or so in seconds continually is not what I signed up for. Plus the betting against and stop hunting it's time to move on to an ECN.
Ive been trading with them for less than a year and never had any problems with my live account. I definitely recommend this broker.

I downgraded to java 7.11

unluckily neither firefox nor chrome recognizes this java version so i had to go back to 7.13

i will talk to an agent as soon as this happens again...
At this time ... Spread in Oanda Live FxTrade is from 4 to 6 pips in EU. No news, no big moves. Bravo Oanda.
What the hell is wrong with the MCV (Margin Closeout Value)!? It's almost the same as the NAV?

What does it stands now for?

Hmmm not good at all..imagine placing limit orders and getting hit by extreme fluctuations...over and over again......not acceptable Ur right.....
Have you guys seen an ECN price feed? It's the same fluctuations in spread. Then you have to pay at least half pip as commission on top of that. http://www.myfxbook.com/forex-broker-spreads

Y but Oanda's has been fluctuating wider lately than f.e. MBT's ...sometimes well over 1-1.5 bs. vs. others. MBT as an example gives u the option to place limt ordrs and no pay ..actually U can receive some back...granted, lmt orders are not always fsble ,,but it can help...
I use stop limit entries. Rarely have a problem except when shorting and no up tick occurs. I don't want any trades before my entry point. Only thing I like about Oanda is they are right on the money with my entries and closes. Demoing MBT Pro now. Sometimes have to get my order in in a few seconds of the new 5m candle. Trying to work it from MBT Market Depth or sliding Open line on chart. A little clumsy so far but I'll get comfortable and make the move over to MBT. Too much negativity with Oanda and they don't come out to defend. There's enough pressure trading alone. dont' need worrying about getting screwed also.
