Reasonable pip profit target per pair

hi all. for a rank beginner just starting, whats a reasonable pip profit target per pair per week?

i am looking at shorter time frame only, up to 3 pairs
aud
eur
and gbp
no more than 3 pairs. i find even that is too many, but i will only take 1 to 2 pairs trade at a time..

Here are my figures for each cycle of price..

If you are trading M1 or M5, then A/U 5 to 10 pips is good. E/U between 4 and 6. G/U I don't know.

Reasons - A/U seems to/used to cycle around 15 to 20 pips, so assuming you catch the start of the trend change, maybe loosing 5 pips seeing the trend change, then you only have 10 pips left of the run.
With the E/U the peak to trough is around 16 pips, so allowing time to see the trend charge, I find 4 pips is a very good figure, but a few more is possible with more risk. It never hurts to leave a few pips for someone else. Trying to catch the very bottom and top of a cycle can be too risky

With short time frame trading, I find it better to focus on getting a few nearly-guaranteed pips rather than chasing more pips at high risk. Once you have proved that you can get a high hit rate on a few pips, then you can ramp up the lot size. .01 lots @ 100 pips = 1 lot at 1 pip in $ return.

No one can answer your question... only you can.
Because it depends of your strategy.

If your strategy is good, why should you stop after reaching certain amount of pips???

there is no such thing as a pip profit target. you got to make the most out of every trading opportunity. and the targets always change, because the market always changes. Just look at price action, price action will dictate your target

i think it is dangerous to think of the market as an ATM or a paycheck that will give you money on a fixed basis if only you crack the formula. i think it is better to think of the market like the weather: you have to adapt to what it gives you, and make the most out of the situation.

Depends on the setup
and the economic environment.
The Euro had a really earlier in the second half, which was
often facilitated by political decisions. So its hard to calculate
an averave pip target.
An other example is the swiss franc, which was/is highly regulated for some
reasons. In an extreme case you could have havested only 1 pip per week
no matter how hard you try.
Some pairs show more average volatility than others.
I advocate the is no clear terse answer here. Maybe the nearest would be,
to calculate the average daily volatitly over many months.
That would be, in the best case, the maximum profit per day.

thanks for all answers. i think the timeframe you trade will necessitate your pip profit target. if you trade lower TF u will be happy with less. you need a lot more on a higher TF, to keep profitable, as you dont get many signals, and need to make the most of it. i think trailing stops are ideal, to keep some flexibility regarding target.

so there is no pip profit target, just keep an open target . re price action - sometimes can be a good indicator, but i notice, sometimes it doesn't work in predicting future movement(e.g. price action shows like trend will stall, but an announcement shoots it even higher)

If you want to make a good trading career in this market, you need to make a solid plan. Making profit mainly depends on your trading plan.

My target profit will stretch higher than for example with GBPJPY because it is volatile. If the sl is too short, it will easily lose even though the trend is correct.

Making profit consistently is very tough in the forex market, To make consistent profit, you have to make a solid trading plan.

No matter how you trade, first, you need to maintain discipline and plan. It is never possible to survive in trading without a plan.
