you'll love this Chonchy......the photo is faked.....used to hunt ducks and birds. my first impression was also a fake.......amazing how perceptions are manipulated so easily...........what to believe anymore?

Nothing surprises anymore. Someone, somewhere, wants the VIX calm before the claim is made that all is well in stocks. Meanwhile, nobody seems to talk about how recent attempts to manipulate sentiment about the future, may have occurred. Namely, messing about with the VXX… which accepts bets upon what future sentiment will be.

In a nutshell, heavy bets are being placed on the VXX about the VIX being calm. This becomes the accepted view, and so the market is ‘bought’ because of the bets on the calmness – not what should be happening – and so an inverted self-fulfilling prophecy is manifest.

Money men are happy because the VIX has been bought off, and thus investors are assured of calm waters ahead.

Yeah, maybe... until investor money begins to dry up, and bets on the VIX are placed the other way.

Like your charting. I would spend more time on this response, but Sundays are riding days, and so a little knackered this evening. Hope to exchange ideas and sentiment later in the week.

Hmm, the 38.2 FE is pretty much kissed at the start of the month, and although only two days in, the monthly candle looks like a spinning top. I suppose the question is, was this last push a run north for month end/start, prior to news to come that will see the Euro hammered and the Dollar retreated to?

Cable doing some funny things, in spite of UC, so a little confused.

I think next week will be telling, and if the sellers have entered, perhaps a fall back down to the MP...

Spanish unemployment may be interesting for the Euro this morning.

Data out of China at the end of the week could also shake things up, but more so for the Aussie Dollar in my opinion.

I am currently gaining interest in how the Dollar is reacting with the Yen… in particular, the rumours of negative interest rates. Pff, I see 1.00 again in USD/YEN

Hi Chonchy,

No, I didn't mean for my comment to reflect my disgruntlement. It was more of a joke than anything else - directed at myself - in regard to my previous wording concerning a spinning top on a monthly candle that was but two days old. As Cuso and pkimnyc quite rightly pointed out.
