Yes, I have deleted all of the SSBO files on all of my MT4 platforms, system download file, and individual indicator files. Any other recommendations?

Thanks!

Needless to say that I will not be trading using the indicator for a while, as with any new software, due diligence comes back to us users, and I will be doing a side by side forward testing for a minimum of a month; I strongly suggest everyone does the same.

Make alot of sense doing the same thing

Sorry, no other ideas. The indi doesn't write to global variables, so that's not an issue ... reinstalling is a bit drastic but as a last resort ...

You guys having difficulty installing the new indi. Try this, especially if your on windows 7. Its picky about .exe files.
go to and copy the file here:

C:Users\Your Name\AppData\Local\VirtualStore\Program Files\Your trading platform folder\Experts\Indicators\copy files here.

If you don't have admin access...then this works around that and lets you install a .exe file on the hard drive.
Turn off platform, restart it....and bingo.....

Getting a wee bit off-topic now, folks. I don't think you have to be an old-skool geek to find your MT4 folder and put the f'ken thing there, common sense.

But if you want to keep your old settings and try the new indi, here's my suggestion:

1. Run MT4 and make a copy of your current profile, say 'SSBO-profile-old'. (Which means you just have to save it under a new name, say 'SSBO-profile-new'.)

2. Close MT4 and go to the /experts/indicator subfolder in your MT4 folder.

3. Put the new indi here but rename it. Give it a different name! Don't overwrite the old one.

I.e. the old one is

AuthorizedSSBODynamicBreakoutBoxFinalEdition.ex4

so the new one should be something like

AuthorizedSSBODynamicBreakoutBoxFinalEdition-nopethisisthefinalbabe.ex4

4. Now all you we have to do is tell MT4 to load this new indi in our 'SSBO-profile-new'.

a) Locate the /profiles subfolder, where you will see your /SSBO-profile-new subfolder.

b) Your charts for this profile are saved like "chart01.chr, chart02.chr" etc.
Don't worry, they are plain text, which means you can open and edit them in a text editor.

c) Open the first .chr file,

and search&replace

AuthorizedSSBODynamicBreakoutBoxFinalEdition

for

AuthorizedSSBODynamicBreakoutBoxFinalEdition-nopethisisthefinalbabe

Save and close the .chr file.

d) Repeat step c) for each and every .chr file of yours.
(Yep, if you've got hundreds of charts, you're f***ed without an advanced text editor that can do search&replace in multiple text files.)

But in this way you can compare the old indi with the new one, you just have to switch between the profiles. (Plus, I noticed that the new indi defaults a few parameters, so in any case, keep your old settings somewhere in backup.)

Well this was nice to wake up to here (in Australia).

I was out with 60, but it went a lot further.

Well folks, I'm at a loss. I've even created a new demo on my old brokers platform (FXCM) and tried installing it on there but without success. It must be an environment setting on my laptop, I cant think of anything else. next step is to install MT4 on my wifes machine which will identify if it is an environment problem. Failing that I'll wait for the MQ4 version.

I cant remember having this issue before but at least I will learn something.

Hxtrader,

Did you see my post a few back.... Im trying to explain, the newer versions of windows after windows xp, it's picky about letting you install .exe files. Its a safety feature to help block viruses and trojens.
The other installed easily because it was a .mq4 version and upon compiling it makes a .exe version. Follow the path on your hard drive from my previous post, and it will let you install the .exe file there. you will also see your other indis there. I had the same problem, copied it like we would a normal indi...but it doesnt show up when you start your platform. Because we dont have both formats, .mq4 and .exe, copy it on the other path and restart..it will work.

Well, that's the end of summer break for me. Wow ! A lovely new indicator to school up on. Into it shortly.

Thank you so much FXH and xux99 for your efforts on this, especially since it is so easy it's hard, or is that it's so hard to make it easy.

This should be the year of the SSBO - Yay !

Mock at your own peril. No winning strategy is based on martingale money management. You are deluding yourself. I haven't read where Forexhard recommends martingale money management.

You are correct. There is no proven edge to any system that has Martingaling as it's core premise -- or based on it, as you just said. (And it's also true that SSBO is not based on Martingaling, so we don't fit into your example in any case.) But that is very different from a winning system with a provable edge that offers the chance to use it sparingly in addition to the normal edge. And this is where SSBO is at. It is absolutely NOT based on it, but it does allow for occasionally including it into a trade basket. Do I use it? Absolutely. Do I use it a lot? Absolutely not. I just look at it as one tool among many in my tool box. None of them get used every day, or even every week. But I sure am glad to have them when ever they are needed.

Here we go - this is one of my setups I'm taking to my live account once the EA gets released. I'm quite happy with the martingale level and will start small lots leaving lots of margin to step up. Looking back 360 days.

So strange...I have very easily installed the new SBBO indicator on both my IBFX and FXDD live accounts. But, I am still perplexed with my efforts to install it on my live Oanda account. I cannot override the old version of the indicator despite my best efforts.

This might be a pritty stupid question, but did you try and open a new chart instead of adding it to the same chart the previous indicator was on. Alternatively install a fresh version of Oanda, but change the "path" in Program Files by adding Rev1 at the back. This will give you a fresh installation in a new directory with no link whatsoever to the previous install.

No prob.

Does anybody have any idea how the EMA_filter setting works? I thought the indi would simply filter positions by selling short below the MA, and buying long above it, but it's not the case. Also, EMA_filter seems to ignore MinBarsClosedOutside. I get phenomenal results, though.

(I know, I shouldn't ask as SSBO is a naked trading system. When I go live, I swear I'll take my clothes off.)
