most of the gurus on here could not trade there way out of a wet paper bag. most of the systems and questions have been reposted over and over and over and over and...

In any forum you will find the blind leading the blind, the scammers trying to sell, the disappointed beating on the prolific, and so on. You need to filter out the crap and find what works for you. There is a lot of good info and programing within this forum and other similar ones. When you find what style suits, you will start finding what you need to build it and make it better. May take years though…

Even if the good ones are gone/where ran out, you can still read what is left behind. But, what works for him/here may not work for you. We are all geared differently and have different beliefs. Keeping an opened mind is a good start in this business. I personally bought and tried some systems in my early days, only to realize that either I just got scammed, or the author/trader had an edge of screen time or different thinking about the play. I then realized that I had to figure this out on my own through trial and error. I even followed a mentor for a while, who is very profitable and we remain friends. Still was not working for me. Again, different mind set. Some people may have mentors that actually work. Again, same mind set.

Agree with the negativity side. I started a thread, “I finally quit my day job! ”, asking about people’s experiences on the subject, and a whole bunch of people started coming in with it can’t be done, lol. I know people who are doing it and have been for years. And, I am taking the steps to head in that direction. My point is, that this forum is good for more than “1 thing” when you know what you are looking for. It will depend on your chosen style and what you think the outcome should be. Again, may take years, a lot of work to get there and some sacrifices. Well for me at least that is how it was.

About the luck factor, even when you start a business, you still need a bit of luck with some great planning to make it work and be profitable. Without that bit of luck factor, you may still go broke even if you had the best everything in the world. Mostly everything in life is a bit part luck or a bit part bad luck. But, you definitely still need that edge/planning to make it all work when that bit of luck decides to be on your side. To some extent, you might even say that you create your own luck.

Hope you find what you are looking for, as I did.

Perhaps the irony of this new thread is that by saying FF is of minimal/zero value, a few experienced hands have contributed - and demonstrated it really does have value.

While I'm sure it's true that some awesome traders have given up on FF simply because the whiners and moaners have worn them down, there is still some content of enormous value - if you're prepared to spend the time looking for it, evaluate what is said, test it, and then put the time in to practice those nuggets that make sense to you.

Kanzler, you are so right - many "traders" are not willing to put the time in, instead looking for instant riches and the easy life.

I've been trading for nearly 6 years, the past 3 years profitably as a full time trader. It's hard at times and I've made some horrendous mistakes while on the endless learning curve. I say countless times to people that forex is both the easiest thing I've ever done (hey, charts can only go either up or down) and it's also the hardest thing I've ever done (emotions, psychology, world events that are out of my control, etc.).

If people stuck to a few basic rules on FF we'd all get more out of it:
1. Only contribute when you feel you have something positive to say;
2. Don't waste other people's time with inane comments designed only to increase the number of your posts; and
3. Accept that if something works for one person it may not work for you.

One of the methods I use is my own variation of the Forex Bible System (that was freely given on FF - so FF has been valuable to me). And yes, it's a very simple method. But that doesn't make it easy.

Quality, not quantity, is what is important. It's here on FF, but each of us has to put the time in to find it, and make it work for ourselves.

I rarely peak at the systems thread coz all the popular systems are totally whack.

trading discussion thread is where there is some useful material.
A lot of systems work, what new traders don't understand, is the journey, it is within themselves, to learn the the markets rhythm. You have to make the system yours, when you learn to trust the system, when you know how get in and out of a trade, the Fear goes away. Over trading is why 80% fail. Jumping from system to system is why the other 80% fail, so you really have a 160% chance of failing, if this is you......Then most traders get in a trade Too early, it goes 30 - 50 pips against them. So stick with a system that fits your trading personality, that visually fits you, that you understand completely for entries and exits. Luck is created with hard work......not gambling........

With this recent discussion of systems, I thought I'd throw my two cents in on the subject. I hate the systems forum as well, and I'll tell you why. Even if 2% of them work at bringing in a marginal, market-conditional income, they don't teach you anything about why they work, and long term success has more to do with having a flexible strategy that can adapt to changing market conditions. Being encouraged to just try them out and "stick with them" for a while is an approach I find naive. If 98% of them don't work, and the ones that do work may not work for long, why would anybody in their right mind spend a year wasting their time and money on one? Hardly a surprise that faith in them is shallow at best to begin with and newbies jump from system to system. It has little to do with the often touted "psychology" problem and more to do with the fact that the system is utter garbage and common sense is telling you that. In order to want to stick with a method you have to really believe in it, and that almost always includes understanding why it works.

The platform tech and trading systems forums are overwhelmingly toxic for a trader and facilitate the early stages of holy grail seeking, simply because if FF didn't have forums for it, someone else would, and FF surely isn't interested in giving someone else their traffic. Hey, I can't blame them for that. Once I figured out that none of these rigid systems would show me a path to long term wealth, I stopped bothering with it. It's a very simple rationale, and I hope some people reading this take my advice - forget systems, embrace strategies. Learn about supply and demand and why it works. Take a look at things such as auction market theory. They'll all lead you in the same general direction and you'll learn a ton along the way.

Your correct ! People can relate to feeling greed and pain, but they don't know how to relate to, or feel the moving market......

This thread started out negative, and is changing before our eyes with Believers of Forex stepping up.... I can see this thread in the next few months being visited by the Greats of Forex Trading, giving their two bits of how Forex is, and how it should be looked at........I am excited to see this thread grow into one large positive pool of trading information, less the talk about indicators and systems....

Strategies....Not Systems, need to be developed for each Phase of the market's movement. Such as ....Trending, Ranging, The Slow Burn, I call it when it just dribbles along forever, reversals, choppy tops and bottoms , continuations and other market moves like fakeouts. So to be a great trader, you will need Strategies for each market condition and learn how to Identify each of these conditions....... I love this stuff....

Here's the problem - figuring out what market conditions are occurring and when that changes. By the time you realize a shift has occurred, for example from trending to ranging, you may very well have lost all the money you made earlier. Trade levels to begin with and none of that impossible "filtering" is necessary.

It would seem then, that your mind is no longer open. You have learned everything there is from PeterCrowned or whatever guru you prefer. How much do they charge for that these days?

But my real question is; if that's your only conclusion why even bother posting (save for the name 'PeterCrowned'). How much is that again ?

That is a problem for those who do not take the full journey, after 4 agonizing years, I can read those changes, it can be done, but you need to work at it, it is not simple, in time , with time, you will be able to read what you can't see........as of 1 1/2 months ago, I have been doing a lot of posting in the Aussie Trading Room and Cartoons Gallery .
I have created a Triple ADX with Histogram that helps find trends before they start and it tells you when the sessions move is over or trend is over. I am writting a detailed article on this and will send it to S&C Magazine and then publish it back here in a month or so, but you can see the basics over at http://www.forexfactory.com/showthre...4571&page=1037

this is pretty much what one of my favourite books mentions "warrior trading" by the time the average joe has worked out the trend has started the warrior trader has already profited and is liquidating his positions.

Yes, you're right. Most useful thing in this forum is the calendar!

And i would also like to say that most knowledge comes from books. For example, "Trading and Exchanges by Larry Harris" costs about 50 dollars and there's more useful info in there than you will ever find on this or any other online forum...

It's the 80/20 rule for forums too. 80% garbage, but that 20% of information can improve your trading skills. What I like about forums like FF is the free stuff like MT4 indicators/scripts, PDF books, videos. etc.

I'd say personally my trading education is broken down like this:

70% live trading
20% forums
10% books
NocturnalFX is no longer offering commercial services

As far as I can tell from his posts, Peter Crowns was barely more helpful than the rest of the systems traders. In fact a lot of the 'great traders' here seem to say a lot of vague nothingness which noobies mistake for profound wisdom.

But there are decent traders here; the likes found in the price is everything thread, Julexo, Sisse... etc. etc. If you look you will find them - not attention seekers trying to sell a story/system, but trying to help others without cryptic and mysterious BS.
