this is the summary

there are hot news days you would quickly lock your profits cos you don't know what side the pendulum might swing
there are trades there that ended in minus that has no business ending in minus
there are trades that would BE and you seek reentry from 4hrs
there are add-ons from 4hr in the direction of the daily

so in all, I think with some discretion or management one can still squeeze more from it.

the year 2009, 2010 and 2011 despite the fact that everything was
mechanically traded did not wipe the profits of previous years.

so, its not to prove anything but just food for thought, cos I know
many people will say 7 years is not much period to arrive at any reasonable
conclusion. but 52 thousand pips in 7 years is average of 7,500 pips year
and if managed well, and good money invested in it, is something.

Hello KOS,

that's fantastic

then it is a PIP PRINT MACHINE lol!
Ignored
yes, you are correct, negative pips 3 of 7 years lol!

I know this will not attract many traders because we all want quick profits
but from my observation these days its becoming increasingly difficult
to trade the small TF successfully.

also many do not posses the capital to do the D1 TF

and I also think as one is getting mature in this business he gets to cool down
and be more realistic to move away from the noisy TF

Yes, its hard to be on the sideline. But I will try,
coming week I will format my PCs, arrange the accounts
and have discussions.

Then by 7th jan. i'll fire the EAs. Then let the market do its thing.
if a trend has started before then. i can join in safely.
But till then holidayMode = true

HAPPY NEW YEAR IN ADVANCE ALL!

surprisingly 2.15.2.15 is not as profitable as 2.9.2.9...

It should be Sir, since there are significant reductions in volatility using the basket, further coupled with trading higher time frames; then, generally speaking, the more sensitive the indicator, the better.

Another idea is to trade as reverse scenario especially at high volatility with sensitive parameter value, go long when there is an red bar, go short when there is an green bar. Because price action reacts faster than indicator, the lagging gives top and bottom. Not sure how am i going to use this advantage, but currently i am testing this in different environment.

Thanks Kos and other contributors.

I caught this nice run on the 15m chart today. Only demo, but I'm still learning. I had to close it because the broker's platform was closing for the New Years Day holiday very soon. Still, over 600 pips so I'm not complaining.

I'm still reading the thread and only up to page 68. I'll keep reading until I get caught up, but I wanted to post this.

Great and useful posts by kos,as usual
I can assure you that the total pips could have been more with proper money management and smart re-entries with the daily trend, as kos said

let's make a good start for 2013,

Basket Trade,
As I said before, just demo trading for this week.
This entry was very easy to spot, momentum and currencies price action were very clear, GBP was going up while USD and JPY were both going south.
Good confirmation from kosomolate HA,Price has been touching the H1 HA for 12 hours before jumping to the upside(warning the snapshot is H4 TF)

Please watch my opened trades and notice how the other pairs didn’t make good profits,if I’d be trading this on my LIVE account I’d have buyed USD and JPY pairs only.My entry was in late ‘cos I was not in front of the screen, I was celebrating New Year with my friends and my family !!!!

My notes are published straight on the chart as usual
hope it helps

Sorry if this has already been answered, but I'm only up to page 122 on the thread so far.

Kos answered a question several posts back about when to reverse the pairs in the TradeHedgeBUYALL and TradeHedgeSELLALL scripts by saying:

When you SELL the basket - reverse GBPCHF & USDCHF (buy these two pairs)
When you BUY the basket - reverse EURGBP & (but not always) EURUSD (sell these two pairs)

Is there something that suggests when to reverse the EURUSD and when not to reverse it?

Thanks,
Dave

Yep. But he never mentioned anything about it further anywhere.. cuz >> (reverse what should be reversed) << is what he has said.. and if u see most of his baskets reverse GC & UC (and some times they are in line with the basket).

OK. Thanks. I'm just like everyone else, trying to make sure everything is set up properly to get the best results.

When he said "When you BUY the basket - reverse EURGBP & (but not always) EURUSD (sell these two pairs)" I didn't know if there was sometime when you sell the EURUSD and sometime when you don't, and how to know.

You must have read T101 thread. That would be the best approach to know when to reverse it against the basket.

2008 was an outlier with the financial crisis. And the bulk of your profit came from that crisis.

Not to knock on your method, I'm just pointing out an observation from your backtest.

I'm always willing to learn and basket trading has always interested me, but its proper use to make money is still elusive to me.

Don't be too concerned with it all, the impact on final results is not worth the hassle.

I don't trade Egbp or Uchf and trade all other pairs in the same direction.

Welcome to 2013 - may the pips be with you all

I wonder how many systems died that year - imagine a martingale type trade, or one that relies on lagging long term indi's

1 single trade of the daily chart with Baskets, banked 15,000pips - - - - unfortunately i was still new to this then and closed out for 3500, as per my system rules. Current daily trade sits at +6000pips, but a HAS setting of 2,15,2,15 on a daily chart could be sitting just under 10,000pips (depending on trade managemnt rules)

Kos has provided probably the simplest method to trade Baskets that i have come across, so you're in the right place to start the intro to baskets - there is no better way to trade.
