Hi Xaphod.....

I read ur all posts......

I placed the attached indys...

After attaching them to chart except the EA ( v 19, kept in experts).... few problems arise...

1. the system hangs...

2. 3 errors in expert section of mt4 terminal are seen... continuously recurring :
a. cannot open file: TDI.ex4
b. cannot open file synergy_apb.ex4 ( which i have not attached)
c. cannot open TMS Osc histo.ex4

Then i reinstalled and attached the same from other links from your posts before and after... in vain !.

mine is win-7 os.

brains dead... cant think more to solve this.

i had compiled all these indys which were all error free.

thanx in advance...

Too many TDI indicators? Some of them are not mine and a couple are probably derivatives of my indicators. Don't know what you expect me to do. Use fewer TDI indictors.

Problem:
MT4 crashes when I put too many indicators on a chart.

Solution
1. Don't put too many indicators on a chart.
2. Take it up with metaquotes at metaquotes.net

Problem:
An EA/Indicator does not work because I have not installed all the indicators it calls.

Solution
Install the missing indicators.

Problem:
An indicator crashes MT4. I do not know which one.

Solution:
Test each indicator individually first to verify they each work and then put them one by one on a chart until MT4 crashes. The last one you put on the chart before the crash is probably (but not necessarily) the culprit.

Note!
The chart template may appear to work however when you restart MT4, it crashes. Check the Task manager and you will see that MT4 is running at full steam and using up more and more memory. Too many indicators on too many charts? Remove some. Change the current profile to a working profile and restart. The current profile can be found/set in the file:
../Metatrader4/profiles/lastprofile.ini

Sorry bro... did not mention ...what i want from u !!...becoz i was workedup with all failed indys on my charts...

presently i use a version of TDI which gives me alerts( all 3 formats) when the buysell is strong only... at which time the green has crossed many bars before the red or yellow line.... to get the alerts at an earlier cross( as said above)... i preferred ur alerts and the indys u provided....

hence...from ur which link shud i download, to have the Trading made simple running ?.. iam asking for some spoonfeeding now... as its very confusing.... to get your links(versions) only and purely....

The TMS-Osc indicators are written specifically for the 'Trading Made Simple' strategy which does not use the yellow line. So they do not have the yellow line. Hence the change in the name from TDI to TMS.

If you use the yellow line, use indicators named 'TDI' or 'Traders Dynamic Index'

I am using your SuperTrend indicators. those are excellent piece of work. thanks.

right now, I am testing some ideas along with Trading Made Simple System.

I am in need of MTF version of TMS-OSC Cross.mq4 indicator.

Can you please help me and create a MTF version of
TMS-OSC Cross.mq4

And also if possible the MQ5 version.

Try Xaphods Supertrend coupled with MTF RSI.

I believe there are some people making good trades out of this.

You can use the TMS-Osc Histo MTF as the next best alternative. Same signals, same alerts.

Thank you for creating and sharing the TMS indicators. I am finding TMS-Osc Histo 3TF extremely useful.

I would like to know if it is possible to have a email alert sent when TF1, 2 & 3 timeframes are all in the same direction?

That mtf TMS osc histo 3tf is a great indicator....been using it with the stoch bars ind. set on 8,3,1(and a few other things but that's the bulk of it)...works very good on the 1hr or better. Actually i'm to the point where I don't think the Stoch bars ind. is really needed.

Been using these settings.

13,0
2, 1
5, 1

3 matched a major leg
1 colored = small retrace
2 colored = major leg 2 or coming trend change.

try these settings...i haven't seen anyone talk about them.

I have recently been using your indicator titled "TMS-Osc Histo 3TF" and I have observed that sometimes I am not being notified by email when all three time frames are in the same direction.


Below / attached is a recent screenshot example of usdchf.

Can you please explain if I am misunderstanding how the indicator alerting functions.

I would greatly appreciate your reply and all your work developing this great indi.

I have been using this indi lately and also find it very useful.

I changed my settings to what you listed above, but found only slight differences present when compared to the indi defaults of:

13,0
2,0
7,0

Can you please explain why you think these setting are better than the defaults. Some examples would be great.

Please expand on how you are trading with the indi.

Because the D1 TF was not green at that point in time. Take some time to read the thread.

Thanks for explaining why the alert is not triggering now. I have read the whole thread and suspected this is what was happening, but as I was receiving most of the email alerts, I wasn't completely certain. Thanks for the confirmation.

I have been backtesting using your indicator and realise that those results are not completely accurate when compared to forward testing. Can you make any suggestions on how to back and forward test when using this indicator?

MT4 does not support multi-timeframe simulations. If you have data on screen for the MTF indicator/s, the data for it/them has been retrieved from the current history. So the MTF data will be showing you value for the indicator at the close of the higher timeframe candle before the close of the candle. This leads to very favorable results which cannot be reproduced live.

Some indicators can be converted to approximations of their MTF counterparts by changing the period. Ex. moving averages and indicators based on them can be multiplied by a factor based on the ratio of the HTF/TF periods. This will not work with the RSI indicator which the TDI is based on. One would have to write an RSI indicator from scratch and build the HTF data from the current TF.

Hi Xaphod,

I have actually been manually back testing this indicator, I am not using the Strategy Tester within metatrader.

Could you suggest any MTF indicators that factor the higher time frame based on the ratio of periods and moving average? I would be interested to back test and see if a positive result exists.

I have been further manually back testing your TMS Osc Hist 3TF indicator.

You can see in the first picture that D1 is red and H4 and H1 are green. In the second picture D1 changes to green, however the alert is not triggered.

Similarly, if you look at the third picture D1 and H1 are green. However in the fourth picture when H4 changes green, no alert is triggered.
It appears that D1 and H4 both need to be in the same direction, before H1 will trigger the alert.

Would it be possible for you to add in the alert to be triggered in these situations??
