Trading on an ECN, the spread spikes last miliseconds. A few minutes is overkill.
I love oanda. I am trading with their own trading platform for years.

In the past i had especially at news minutes without data. But away from that never experienced problems. Their order executions are fast and reliable. For limit orders i often (>50%) get better fills.

The chart windows are highly adjustable. compared to that with MT4 i would waste to much space on my screens for toolbars and such things i don`t need.

Market orders are filled very well, in average i get exactly the price i want, sometimes better, sometimes worse, but always extremely fast, i am impressed again and again.

The spreads at news times are not a problem at all since i simply don`t trade at news times. Market reactions to news are simply unpredictable. So anyway it is better not to trade from 10 minutes before the news to 10-20 minutes after the news.

So especially Oandas charing software find very suitable and easy AND fast to use. Don`t change it, i need it exactly that way!
With which software than the one from Oanda can i set up my screens similar? No space wasted with useless bars and whatsoever...

How Much are they paying you ??
Their softwear is piece of junk. If you don't know how to work with MT4 ofcourse it is a bad soft. I love MT4, I used esignal before, but moved to MT4. Orders execution with MT4 is bad but like a charting soft it is brilliant.
Oanda soft is terrible, there is no indicators that I need, it is java platform, you can't add a shit in there, to place or remove something from chart is pain in the a...

The people who is that much in love with their broker are newbies or paid ?

I saw that ones, spread raise for 30 min. That was after some UK news, don't remember. I have been disconnected one time for 1 hour, I have been disconnected in the time when tried to place my stops, so when I got connection I had a pretty good minus. Shit happens, I wont blame them for server problem, I worked with computers and now how unpredictable it is can be. So time to time we have surprise.
I still can't find a good broker. We are choosing the best from worst. They have regulations but there has to be a law !!!!!!!!!!

You gotta create a FXTrade practice account on their site first. Then through the account administration you can setup an MT4 demo.

It sounds odd, I know, but Oanda's backend isn't MT4 native.. they do a lot of stuff on the account level that MT4 was never designed to manage.

I've been dealing with O since they opened in the early 2000's running both automated and hands on accounts( both retail) . To provide some background I also deal on Autobahn ,Velocity , Barx Live , Matrix ,FxTrader.(all Institutional)

1) All platforms crash
2) All platform ( MM) have breakers to curb News trading.Some use extremely wide spreads( as high a 50+), some simply turn indicative for 3 seconds and other use an extended last look provision ( more so than they normally run)
3) oanda adjusts their spread 15 seconds prior to a news event and then it normalizes 30 seconds post news event. This occurs 99.99999999999 % of the time during UK and US time zone. The spreads on the Antipodeans during the the Asia Pac news release tend to be a bit wider but that's to be expected .

Now lets comment on the facts

IMO 30 seconds post data at 10 pips is too long and I have complained endlessly over the years .I wish they could follow the major ECN ( Reuters and EBS ) spreads. Blow out for 3-5 seconds and then quote 2-4 pips for the next 10-15 seconds and then normal after that
Spiboy: is there any reason in particular you trade on this collection of single bank platforms, as opposed to one of the multibank platforms like Hotspot, or others?

It seems to me, all of those (and more) quote their prices on the more popular multibank platforms too - so why go through the hassle and trade on 5 different SDPs instead of just one?

NO bro( commission) , established long-standing relationships in place( Credit/Business/Personal) Ability to move large orders quietly at much better prices. . Some are more aggressive on minor majors Currencies than others , some better on JPY others on EUR etc . Sure the netting can be a bit of a hassle but we have a provision in place to handle that daily before the rolls... so most position are netted daily or every couple of days depending on size and swap spread cost of the offset exposure. ( ie short 100 with A and long 100 with b)

Shrike, you would be surprised at the amount of Direct Dealing that occurs in the interbank/ institutional market place. . I trade ~ 75 -85% direct and only ~ 15 % through EBS. ( if that ).

And do u see any indicators on my screenshot? I don`t need them. I need plain windows with just the chart.

I just need to change timeframes from every single window quickly and easily. This can be done with Oandas platform. And sometimes I need some lines in one window, easy and fast to be done. If i click in a MT4 window with the right hand sided mouse button i just can activate the grid, else i need a toolbar again which i don`t want.

My windows are open 16 hours a day. I am trading mostly from a third world country where the connections are not so good, but even here all is working smooth and fast.

Hopefully i can use this system for much longer.

yah exactly,all these brokers are a bunch of con men at the end of the day,and all most like gangsters running a casino,they hate it when you win and if you keep winning they will be watching you like a hawk and end up making trading so difficult for that you will end up leaving.believe ive been there.

Actually, reputable brokers ( of which OANDA is one) encourage their clients to win honestly , since OANDA holds minimal position ( most risk trades are hedges) why would they care if a customer wins or r loses ??? however if you 've circumvented the system via latency arb or such other non ethical trading styles ,they will quickly identify you and kick you out.

That holds true everywhere..

p.s: At current stage, I can only see stock and bonds as the winner, while FX is trash.I can't see any light in the tunnel, hehe
hi, does anyone know, how is it with oanda's "Credit card withdrawals are subject to credit card company rules that stipulate you may only withdraw up to 125% of the amount you originally deposited into your OANDA account using a credit card."? I do not understand if it is 125% at total or if it is 125% per one withdrawal. I realize I must seem stupid, but i just don't get this. Thx for any answer

fx was the greatest thing in the 90's.before that was bonds an before that still was grains.low volatility begets low volatility.we are in a new period, expect many bucket shops to fail.

Still this is no excuse not to make profits,profits can and are still being extracted from the fx markets.
