Technicalities ...some technocrat prolly found the loophole to "bypass" the ESM legal requirements and some of the "conditionality" attached to it. More importantly bypass and minimize the political implications for the governments first in Spain and after in Germany ....

In simple words, same source of money different channel for delivery...nothing new, just an extra confirmation that Germany is all in for the long term putting their money where their mouth is and Spain is ready for the bailout.

Yeap agree 100%...Although some eternal dormers around are making noise, from a strictly market perspective, the politics and the BS behind is irrelevant...money is money wherever it comes or how it comes...

I think there are just tiny crumbs (if any) left, for the euro. 99% of the Spanish bailout move and therefore the lower EZ bonds are already digested in charts.... just need final act like always and we can move to the next leg.

In the equities front, a trigger for profit taking will be more than welcome at the current levels. Earnings so far is not the one so via EZ/Spain sounds healthier just on time for next elections/NFP combo for the continuation... we'll see.

For now NY to open with every major instrument at the highs of the major consolidation range so even more noise expected.

A more interesting question is why Germany is willing to go the distance and do Spain this favor....out of goodness of their hearts?

Nope, it was not rejected, Merkel was just trying to said that it is "not as bad as it sounds" ....but I insist is irrelevant how or what is technicality, the point is the implications for trading. These kind of "slips" are only linear for trading the micro intraday knee jerk reaction (those 30 or 50 fast ticks up/down on air).

Depending on the seniority of the rumor (for example the massive ECB "slip" bond intervention before Trichet, or the key coordinated CB action comments from the FED a couple of weeks before, etc) they are warnings of a top or bottom to come.

Analyzing word by word the rumour, rejection, etc and expecting linear moves is only for some newbies (and not so newbies sometimes) in FF that think that trading rumours is trading FA (as if a couple of billion or whatever euros will be triggered in the next M5 bar just on a random rumour on the wires....).

We have a "slip" from a senior lawmaker in Germany that it was "denied" (not really more was they "over interpreted" ...lol) by no less than Merkel herself. Plus add all the main 5 or 6 major news on the wires on the same line from senior actors in the last days (From the Mexican President guaranteeing that Spain will ask for a bailout to multiple PMs in the EZ passing by the major Financial Journals to most of the big bastards analyst.... )....you know something is cooking.

In simple words, watchout your macro TA levels for the real move as an important knee jerk reaction news is coming .... my 2 cents
