downgrading to a hang glider could be an option...problem is where to fit the cooler for the "survival kit"

A regular fridge would work, like a (large) mini fridge... or a freezer with a temp regulator. The bucket holds 5 gallons, so it's right at that point where a small or medium fridge would probably not fit, but come close.
Craigs list is perfect for it, I think.
I'm sure you'd find something on there. May not be the most "green" fridge in the world...but for 5/6 days a go...no biggie, really. Quite a few more people in Toronto, but...you often see people just giving that kind of stuff away. Re-doing their kitchen/house, and are just happy to have it removed.

When I actually get around to owning my own home... I'm going to have an area dedicated to the brew craft. Buy a garage and make half of it a walk in freezer!

Ohh my. That is glorious. IF that thing could isolate sections (climate control) for different fermenting temps, then the rest as storage... that would be golden!
May need to upgrade that to hold 3/4 taps for different varieties, though!
