I don't have a futures account so I can't see S&P. Does anyone know if yesterdays close was below the open of October 1st?

From a strictly TA point of view, what you are assuming/betting (with or without noticing) with your levels is a certain intraday pattern (usually algorithmic). In general you are "dividing" a grid every 20 (sometimes 40) ticks/pips and using these areas not only for trigger but also to "pace"/"take the pulse" of the intraday ebb & flows (2 beat up 1 down, 3 up 1 down, or whatever).

Lots of useful info and valid points raised.

You are 100% correct about getting a predefined handle on the possible levels looking at a bigger TF.

I posted a chart yesterday going back 5 week showing how the levels using larger beats can be quite reliable.

It can certainly be traded and would put a decent amount of pips into your pocket on a fairly consistent basis.

I started using dustbins initially to manage my swing trading (intraday) because the PA can be "predicted" very accurately a lot of the time.

The real advantage for me moving to short term dustbins was the possibility to use a relatively low-risk trading method with consistent gains to exploit the real money spinner i.e. compounding .

I still take the odd trade from larger TF chart using bigger dustbin levels but
I have scaled down my trading to 3 days/week and hit-and-run intraday pays for beer and lunch

I ve heard medici talking about easing of those rules like three month ago. Apparently, there were some big bond desks in Europe willing to buy periphery debt, but they could not, because of Basel, VaR, etc.

and with av gas on the rise also they get you coming and going

Btw, regarding that Basel, I will be glad if you expand/correct me, because I am digging these memories from my head so they may not be accurate.

They have raised basel requirements for about 1% last year when problems with Greece started to escalate @ June. Since then, banks in southern Europe, which were already experiencing heavy liquidity squeeze, were squeezed even more. This one extra percent should have served as a cushion in occasion of periphery defaults on its debt. But since banks were in loss and squeezed, I ve been saying that if they want to meet Basel, they will have wiped out all their profits for three years.

So this last move says it all. They really werent able and this is just another nail in the coffin of Europe. Assets aint Marked to Market, they aint covered with collateral, so really weak links are holding european financial sector together. Speaking of collateral, well, thats just laughable what ECB accepts, but that is different topic.

Overall, big news. I will be glad if some of you expands on this topic, since I wasnt making notes and dont remember it all. Besides, Basel is quite complex subject.

What I would like to find out right now, is how much money banks saved thanks to this move. Especially Spanish banks.
