We started this week with early strength in the us$ sunday night (in uk) but since then the $ has been pounded left right and center. If we dont bounce from here then down and down we go

Hello all,

I have been trading the Forex market for 4 years and I need automated trading strategies due to a change in my employment status (and I'm not a very profitable trader and need a change in direction.)

I am looking to find out if anyone has past/present experience or considering automated trading for the future.

Please, I am looking to visit and contribute to threads around this topic, does anyone know of any good threads here?

Why not look for end of day mechanical systems rather than automated?
You look at the markets after the close say weekly and the daily charts and deduce and place pending trades based on that assessment.

What do you think about this?

Hi,

Thanks for the reply.

This is a good idea, something that I would certainly implement for longer term or for my swing trade opportunities. In saying this sometimes you really do need to close trades manually when you get a feel for the trade entry price action.

I suppose I don't like the thought of not making the most of the market when I can't do during the day.

Have you tried automation trading before? Is there any hope for it?

No I have not tried it. However from the plethora of systems being sold out there I am sure there must be profitable ones. I might try this later but it would have to trade my mechanical system and be my tried and tested code.

Secondly market conditions change over time as people change. A break of the 10sma that previously meant a 50 pip move could be insignificant in the future. Unfortunately you would have lost loads before throwing out that particular EA.

Ah, yes I understand.

I've had some completely awful experiences with Expert Advisors.

What about alternatives to Expert Advisors?

For example Mirror Trader, does any one know of threads containing information regarding this service? I tried a demo recently with FXCM with some promising results.

It would be best for me to have other peoples inputs before deciding how to proceed.

P.S. I am not meaning to hi-jack this thread with automated trading topic I am just trying to find out where I can find more information if it is possible.

My only experience is in EAs and that is because I can code in 'C' which is the base coding language of Metatrader EAs. Also you are not hi-jacking the thread. This thread is about how 9-5ers can make money in trading. Let me know hat else you find out

The euro has been on fire lately because of expectations of a bailout. Gbp has lagged behing a bit hence the strength of the eurgbp. Today the aussie is stronger that the gbp and I am beginning to wonder if this is going to continue. Price has broken some trend lines and is below the 10sma on the daily chart. A break below the recent pivot would get me stepping in lightly at first...
