Exactly 6hrs (24 bars) from arrow to arrow. QTP hit, trade set closed, and the indi is reset until the next CZ...

Just wanna say something. After reading through the entire thread in 5 days, and playing with naked creation of the box (not for a full week as recommended by ForexHard), and now playing with the auto box ploting indicator, I can tell all the noobs this:

The indicator is not an is all end all. For many who used this indicator, I'm sure you would have problems trying to find the sweet spot even with ForexHard's guidelines: Keeping to less than 2 CZ per week, setting reasonable CZ box parameters e.g. 25 x 35 for GU, and also not more than 4 trades per set to name a few. The reason why the sweet spot is hard to find is due to the fact that just as what ForexHard said in the userguide - the indicator is very sensitive to changes.

Hence it is my humble opinion that the TRADER must be able to discern WHY the box is drawn, WHY the buffer is 2.5 pips and not 3.0 pips or 1.0 pips etc. The indicator simply shows the baseline statistics (which is actually phenomenon that without martingale there is actually an edge of around 60% to even 80% - find me one system that is purely MECHANICAL without traders intervention and have similar %)

Which leads me to this conclusion. The holy grail of this is really back to the basics of knowing the system by heart. I'll readily admit that I haven't fully grasp the know how and hence I'll continue to do free hand first for the 100 trades that ForexHard has recommended, and sticking to 1 currency pair only.
Yes it will take long. Think about it, 2 CZ a week, 100 trades = 50 weeks = 1 year if you trade EVERY CZ that comes, or 25 weeks if you have 2 trades per CZ set. But I think it is beneficial.

I think that is the bare minimum that you should do to have a grasp of the system. If you use this indicator and the EA alone without doing all the necessary homework, you'll simply end up failing and thinking that there is something wrong with the EA/indi.

To all those who have tried but failed in the past, I can see why you guys have failed, don't look at it as a pure mechanical system. It is NOT. If you simply want a pure mechanical system, let me tell you, you will not make tons of money. Coming from the "evil side", I can tell you the black boxes and auto trading system that banks use, can only give you a return of maybe 5% to 10% annual, and that is being super optimistic. This system is by itself is already MUCH MORE. Can you imagine how much more potential this thing has should you put in more effort into it?

I apologize in advance ForexHard if you disagree with anything I've said, as this is how I feel after reading the thread after only 1 week (certainly not a long time). Will delete this post and excuse myself if you think this is not your philosophy.

No need to change or delete any part of this. This is EXACTLY my philosophy, and it's rewarding to see you catch on so quickly. If this is your SSBO experience after just 5 days, I can't wait to see where you are in 50!

If one has been trading before all it should take is the week it takes to read the thread and do as explained.

For someone new to forex as me it might take a bit longer maybe 7 and a half days as one has to read about basic money management and maybe find a trade manager bot to be able to trade SSBO and be in the green every Friday.

Place a trade when the bar jumps out of the box....

The biggest obstacle for me was trust in the system as I kept cutting my trades short or playing with the SL, after i got over that my problem was trying to improve it, now 40 days into this system I just trade it.

On the sweet spots, they easy, the easiest way is to do the boxes by hand and just trade.

With the indicator, many have posted their settings here all one has to do is read or look at the posted charts and one can start with them and adjust from there.

Personally i started by disabling auto scroll and analyzing every trade that did not win on the first break out until i was satisfied, it takes about an hour per pair/time frame, doing this a few times for each time frame every few days should give you the understanding or at least the gut feeling on how to do it before jumping to the next step.

Now I have 12000 different settings for each of the 10 currency pairs I trade (120000 individual settings length, height, TP, buffer, candles out etc etc etc. ) its easy to pick the one for the pair I fancy trading, note that i also draw boxes by hand and trade them on the indie chart (trades within trades).

To become a great trader with this system it might take a year, month a week or newer work out, in my humble opinion this system is dependent on the trader being ready for it.

I have a slightly different story. Because of time constraints and my need to sleep I have not religiously traded the SSBO. I do believe I have a decent grasp of the method and often employ breakout methods on other manual trading I do. My intention, and I hope this is not mis-interpreted, is to wait for the EA and put my time into that. I am hoping the EA may also allow for taking profit beyond the Quick Take Profit of the indi. I do observe some behaviour in the indi I do not understand and it is shown in the attachment. I don't know why there is only one long trade showing away from the Sept 28 box but no shorts. That was a 100 pip dip - not that one would have got it all but, no trade from the box ? Is this a glitch FXH ? It is set Initial Break out Direction False. Long and short True, 4 per box. Many prior boxes have multiple trades but likewise miss some. I am not complaining because my efforts will be applied to the EA. I have a grasp of this but the EA will allow full forward testing and some sleep. I am running it on 16 pairs so am not inclined to set manual pendings SL and TP at this early stage when a helper may be just around the corner.

Well, there ya go - NZDUSD and USDJPY just fired alerts but it is 0210 in my morning. Am only up at this ungodly hour because can't sleep because of four open positions. Now past my weekly target.

I am not young buddy so please don't get cranky.

No, it is not. Any time you have a numeric value next to an left-facing arrow and a dotted line, it means the trade set closed in profit for that many pips. In the pic you posted, this is shown as "24p", with no (-) negative symbol next to it. The CZ just before that one shows as "58.4p". The Quick Take Profit paragraph in the Guide explains what you are taking as a possible glitch.

Also, look at the Take Profit display line immediately once a new CZ forms and compare to how it looks now.

Hah ! OK, I got it. The indicator shows no further trade once it has a profit. Either by QTP or Martingale. I was thinking the MaxBreakOuts still applied even after a QTP. OK, I might have taken the short manually but that's another story. Thank you squire.

More tweaking...prodding....poking.....the result is a net gain so far this week of 120 pips over my 5 pairs.....bearing in mind I lost a whole day due to family business and I would have made even more....

I find absolutely fascinating that in order to get all my pairs to show just 3 trades and display a 2 - 3 per week CZ average, some are allowed auto reduce box size and some are not.

I even managed to get the E/U to work on a completely different philosophy of sniping for 10 pips with a qtp win ratio of 90% and 650+ net pips....

Works beautifully to supplement my other pairs with more trades yet more reliable results than I can get with any other setting on that pair.

Put in the hard graft guys....seriously....its worth it in the end!

Green pips to you all.......can't FXH enough....stress free trading = yum yum yum pippage!

That's a nice result for three days Awol. Do you aim for a % return ? I aim for 2 % / day. Sometimes way better, sometimes don't make it.

"Scalping" the EU is a good thought. I am real interested to see the EA. Once that appears I can forward test with a goal in view.

Getting that box optimised is not easy. At one point I had 1772 net pips on the A/U but is now less than a third of that, so un-interupted forward testing over an extended period is needed, as FXH says, but if the EA is only a few weeks away I am more inclined to wait for that and spend my time on the final product rather than the "prototype". This is quite a nice, albeit somewhat unpredictable, method. I like such statistical automated approaches.

Your thinking is backwards to how the indi is designed. The MaxBreakout is how many trades you allow the indi to consider as your build your R/R profile for that pair, not the other way around.

As I have said before, newer data coming in the front of the 100-day window pushes out older data on the other end. It could very well be that newer incoming data from this week cancelled out a couple of older successful trade sets from 3 months ago, thereby altering your 100-day profits line at the bottom of the diagnostic display. The indi is "alive", for lack of a better term. Many parts of the display are live and in "real time", and are subject to change with every new candle close. This concept can be challenging at first to anyone who is only accustomed to lagging indicators. If one moment the Net Pips line reads "900", and 5 bars later reads "700", this does not mean that the system has suddenly gone haywire. It just means that older data fell off the back end of the data window and the totals for every win and loss within the window have been re-tabulated in real time. And some days it will do the opposite, and the Net Pips total will jump. This is what I meant when I said it was best to let the indi collect a full 100-day data stream before judging whether the system is working for you or not, giving time for all of these varying conditions to be noted in you guys' trading diaries.

If you need more "concrete" data to go by, then look for the Individual Trade Win Ratio line in the display. Anything over 50% means a guaranteed profit over the last [100] days. 60+% means you were wildly successful. Mine on G/U M15 currently reads 68.3%. [Note: This figure has nothing to do with Martingaling.]

Why would there be? You just took pips out of the market. You are a winner. Why the need to stay in, or to get back in, and to keep the risk window open? If you are looking for an "always in" system, then you are in the wrong forum. In here we snipe our way to profits: Get in, get out, reset, and look to do it all over again when the conditions are just right.

Glad we're on the same page. Now keep in mind that the EA uses all the same basic logic that the indi does, but will also have the ability (has the ability; it's working, but is currently in the debugging stages prior to final release) to make the trades last longer and bring in more pips when ever price moves away in a straight line from the opening position -- as it does roughly 25% of the time.
