1- Trying up to 3 or 4 times a trade (or more ?).
2- Doing 3 o 4 trades only one try.

Pesonnally i found doing 3 individual trades should be more profitable than trying 3 times one trade that will be lost.

I was just told of this thread. I have read the first ten or so pages. It looks very interesting, and profitable the way it works off supply and demand.
I will be testing it out next week.

Well, despite his avatar saying "this guys a Newbie" he has been a member since 2009 but geez, talk about homourless Pr**s - Doh ! nuff said.

FXH I had a lightning strike on Friday which put the cat amongst the pigeons this weekend and stopped my further checking of SSBO. Can you clarify for me please : You said the indicator is essentially self learning (or that's what I took) and so I was going to leave a laptop running it for 100 days but surely you jest ? What happens if I switch off the machine at market close ? Do I lose any data that was refining the box size ? . . . . or were you speaking figuratively that you would "own it" ie know it in 100 days. Sorry, I am a literal Bast***. Too many years in business and too many contracts read - somewhat anal in terms of written words. :-)

Not entirely sure if this is what you mean without the quote you seem to refer to, but if yes then it appears to me you didn't quite read the contract governing this thread

So the self that is supposed to do the learning is yours

The indi paints boxes according to parameters that you set. It does not machine learn them or refine the core settings by itself. Read about AutoReduceBoxSize for a detail that adds a little bit of dynamic.

After nearly 10 months we still have traders working off of naked charts with hand-drawn CZ's, so using the custom indi is certainly not a requirement. If you like it, use it. Sorry dropkick - you do miss the point. It is largely a question of semantics and circumstance that prompted the question. ie. There is a semantic ambiguity in FXH's words. I don't expect any box refinements will affect the mq4 code but there are such things as global variables and non visible chart characters, mql can write variables to external files and refer those files. The files may or may not delete on shutdown or start up. Since I had a lightening strike I lost two machines instantly, it will take many days to repair those machines and what code, if any at all, is left on them I wouldn't have a clue at this time. Also there are probably other mq4 "funnies" . Whether some of these are lost on machine shut down I DON'T know, nor do I know if such could quite easily affect the characteristics of the "box". Nothing like this is mentioned in this thread and the above very simple question was to FXH specifically.

This is the lost trade for 0.2 pips.
The solution is to widen the "buffer pips".

As you can see, my account has one SSBO good trade, one manually good trade, and one SSBO bad trade.

New week is starting ...

Good morning fellow pip getters!

I saw a post this morning that gave me an idea for a settings refinement across all my pairs. Basically I always like to have only 3 trades showing for the past 100 days....nice and tight...but having multiple markets showing the same means whilst the pips are less than say someone who is willing to go to 5 or 6.....I have "potentially" less exposure to whipsaw.

Its just my style not a declaration or revelation. For those struggling for settings I'd suggest doing what I do and start from somewhere around 35 bars x 19 range....then tweak from there until you get your pip tally up without a 4th trade appearing...

I'm still trying to figure out the E/U as the only 3 trade setting i can find at the moment gives me a spectacular.....0.6 boxes per week....

Again I reiterate, use what works for you. I started small stakes to get used to the system and tightened settings from 4 trades to show only 3 and my confidence grows daily.

Show no emotion and no fear. Trust in your settings. Trust in the system. Don't worry about what price has done or is doing. Just hit the trade button when its time and watch months or years of stress and worry disappear!

By that I mean...."Oh no, the indicators crossed and it all looked perfect...but now price is reversing....but that's not my fault???"

How does this sound.... "Price has broken out of my box.....nice.....oh now its come back the other way....cool......oh look its come back the other way and hit my TP.....now i can get on with my life hurrah!"

I see one trade for .01, another for .23, and a 3rd for .33. This does not resemble a trading plan. This will inevitably kill your account.

Instead, for the next 20 trades confine your risk to just .01 per trade. Win or lose, never change your lot size from .01. Try to keep your TP & SL levels as close to the same as possible for all 20 trades so that you always know where your total risk lies with every trade. Keep extensive notes on every trade in a written diary. You will be amazed at what this excercise will teach you.

How is this possible? Don't you use martingale? I don't see how you can possibly keep it at .01 every time.
