I have been seeing it too. I think it is just a graphic thing or memory thing. It has never open or closed a trade. Not sure what is doing it never really saw this before because of an indi

Actually, I'm more worried that it has something to do with stop hunting.

I don't know if it will be helpful to you, but I just sent you some ideas I have been working on based on the indi code. They aren't earth shattering or anything, just helpful to me.

Hi Guys - I decided to observe what the indicator actually did before attempting to trade with it. It is a bit puzzling to be frank. G/U for instance has not indicated a trade since Sept 6. Eyeballing it I would have thought it should, I would have with manual boxes. Likewise A/U, Sept 6 but NZ/U which has similar PA has 8 boxes in the same period. I have just logged the P/L at the beginning and end of the last two weeks in Excel for all majors with the original intention of selecting the best traded pairs but I now see that idea will not work as the old boxes dropping off invalidate the current P/L figure and I don't want to leave that laptop running continuous for 100 trading days to find optimal box sizes - even if it did.

It looks, at the moment, I would be better off to attempt optimising boxes on a limited number of pairs and develop from there rather than my original idea.

Any comments welcome.

Don't know what to tell you, I've had 4 boxes/trade sets on G/U M15 since the 6th (which all closed in profit). Maybe if you posted a pic...

It just occurred, could be a spread issue but have not yet looked into it. Pic attached. It is strictly ootb on all pairs.

Those settings are not OOBT. This pic shows G/U M15 with fresh OOTB settings. At the very least your corner selection is different.

Try hitting the reset button inside your inputs window and see if that helps.

That's very odd. I moved the window yes but I don't recall changing anything else as my objective was simply to observe. OK, reset updates everything. Thankfully, I can let that laptop update now and next week start pushing boxes around.

I'll be glad to hear any other observations.

Hi Altos, I would suggest you not to use OOTB settings and tweak them to give you the best numbers (pips, %accuracy, etc...)

Hi Joan ? Yes, I will do that next week. It was the self adapting that FXH mentioned I was interested to see what would transpire. I will start on some obvious pairs and just try and work through it. I didn't originally realise the effect of the old trades dropping off the back at 100 days. Pity there was not the same PA each week, wouldn't that be nice - optimized in one week. We'd all be millionaires in nothing flat.

Not on dermo but why would they do that

It only shows when I open the edit indi window, never saw it when I was not touching the keyboard

Next week I will sacrifice a .01 lot and see what happens

Saw that a week or so ago when tinkering with the settings, found that I could maniplulate the candle to different lengths..

Of course I tried to trade it but candle reverted to normal position.

Im wondering whether the indy has inadvertently found a path to the brokers software where they could 'arrange a spike or two', as and when required.

Looks like a new box going to form on G/U.

Expecting to go long again on a breakout at Frankfurt/London open. Despite some late selling on Friday still closed above 6200.

Shorts still too risky for me at the moment although a pull back is due.

Holiday in Japan and no significant UK data out so expecting it be quiet. Time will tell!

Hi FH,

My thanks for providing all the wonderful tools and commentary for this trading method!

I am a bit perplexed. I use the Oanda MT4 platform. When I change just 1 parameter on the MaxBreakoutTradesPerBox from 1 to 2 or 3 or 4, the 1st trade win% changes as well. On one example, the 1st trade win% changes from 61.5% to 58.9% to 56% to 54.2%. Why would simply adding additional trades per box alter the win% of the 1st trade? I would assume the 1st trade win% would not be affected by additional trades being added or subtracted

Also, any change in the number of trades per box causes previous boxes to shift their physical location. This occurs on the IBFX MT4 platform, as well.

I am using a buffer of 5 pips and both a fixed TP and SL.

Any help is greatly appreciated.

The trouble comes in when you imagine that the on-screen artifacts are static and immovable. The indi is much more flexible than that. It's all right there in my recent post history.

FH, thanks for your patience. Yes, I have read the entire thread. Sorry...but I didn't connect the dots. I just received a PM that made it crystal clear.

I must say that I have traded breakouts for about 4 years now, and the SSBO allows me to set up scenarios in a matter of seconds that manually required hours and days to compile. Wonderful!

Here's a setup from Wednesday last. I have noticed a few times that a breakout which returns to bounce off the top of the CZ gives a good indication that the trade will go at least 30 pips.
