I know,

I was confused by this

"Method, 1 for ema. Apply to 0 for closing price."

Im the picture I posted above it what my current EA is se at...

do I want Method at 0 or 1 because comment1 and comment2 are where which type of moving average is chosen and whhether its open, close, whatever.

I'mconfused as to what that is still, why it is whatever it is and such

All going ok. Eurnzd looks a bit shaky, if it carries on like that I will remove the pending order and wait for a fresh move. Over 700 pips up on eurusd. Audusd could be giving us another high to put a pending order above.

This system looks amazing. Thanks Hugh!!! I'm currently doing a backtest on the EURUSD of the current EOD system. Before doing an entire year, I analzed the first trend of Aug 2011 thru today. I used 10 EMA + 50 pips for the SL. Here are the results:

I did this quick test while at work, so I used web based daily live charts. I also noticed that EURUSD ranged somewhat during the second quarter of 2012. Is there was way can filter out those periods to avoid unnecssary losses. I'm thinking of using rate of change in the 10 EMA as confirmation of the start of a medium trend. Any suggestions before I do a detailed backtest. I'm not sure if the SL techique is the best either. I'll start my backtest next week.

HB, I am not sure why you are considering long on EURNZD, it closed below 10ma...so looking for short on breaking of 9/12 green candle

Been wondering the same thing myself...

A long will be justified if we break above 1.5900 area

Thanks for posting your results. I don't think there is an effective way to filter out these losses, it is best just to accept them. The system itself cuts out a lot of the whipsaw losses around the ma.

I'm using 100 pips initial stop and 1 ATR behind the ma at the moment. The actual exit is the close of the candle above/below the ma against the trend. The stop loss is just there as an emergency.

It would be interesting to see more back test results if you do them. Also I do have an open mind regarding the system so any changes that are proven to be better I am happy to adopt. No ego here. Thanks again for your work.

Yes I know. It did look like it might turn round as euraud did quite nicely. I have now removed the pending order. This is the good thing about the system though, no harm done by leaving the pending order there. If it had shot up the page I would have been in. As it is it's game over, nothing lost.

Not yet, I want to see a move down and then a pullback. Once the pullback takes place I can put a pending order below the swing low.

Not sure what was happening at the time that was posted but here's the current trade. A convincing close above the ma followed by a couple of pullback days. Trade triggered on the break of the swing high.

I am using 1 times the ATR(20). For eurusd this is around 80 at the moment so my stop losses are 80 pips behind the 10 ema.

Hello HughBriss, I have been out the country for a while and see there have been some changes to the monthly/daily method, can you please tell me if I have missed anything.

D1 chart with 10EMA, apply to close.
Wait for candle to close above the EMA and set a pending buy there.

Set more pending buy orders at each break of the swing high.

I am using the EdwardMunroe V2 to trail 50 pips behind the 10 EMA.
Only close long position/s manually if the daily candle closes below the 10 EMA.

Best trending pairs to watch are,
Eur/Usd Eur/Aud Eur/Nzd Aud/Cad Aud/Usd Nzd/Usd.
