Well, it's a 100 year space between these events, they happen in roughly the same region of the world, in both cases (sadly) roughly the same amount of people were made homeless. I think it is fair to consider these events in a research of a 100 year cycle.
Now, as for the chart (and i look at 29.AUG.2005), in my humble opinion, i do not believe or look at individual planets as the source of things. and i think that if you leave Sun, Jupiter, Moon on the charts and remove everything else that you will see that there is something in common (look...

Sun was at 27.55 in 1906 and 156.26 in 2005 (delta of 128.71)
Moon was roughly at 330 in 1906 and 99 in 2005 (delta of 129)
Jup was 67 and went to 198 (delta of 131)
I see they are all roughly 130 degrees from their previous points in the sky, however I have no idea why that would be significant....
