It is now above the 200 MA but this was obviously due to the FOMC minutes this morning. So it has a good chance of more upward movement as it has broken out of its channel.

However, QE is already being priced into the markets so once the FED announces that they will not do any additional QE this year it will go back down.

Looking at 4 hour chart I see it as largely range trading so far in August. Since the recent high of 1.0613 on the 9th we've gotten lower highs and some lower lows. Whilst it could be a double bottom at 10410ish I think it a good bet that we were heading lower yesterday on negative BHP results / outlook until FOMC minutes prompted surge upward. With recent failure to break above 1.0520 I've sold at 1.0510 ahead of China flash data (BHP should be a good indicator of bad news there). Can make reasonable short term profit if continues ranging or hold for long term gain if does continue higher.
Hope for the best, prepare for the worst.

Zappa, if worried about the trade at least give it a chance by moving your stop to break even so it has a chance to run in your favour.....

PMI shuld give us clarity. If we break the upper neckline I am out of all shorts and will wait for a set up on FRIDAY. As for those itraday traders ABC fib extensions drawing shows we are bouncing around 78.6 88.6 and have traded below. If PMI is better than expected than here is a potential level for a spike.

If it dissapoints 1.0465 could be a level to trade lower. Either you a great set up is showing for a long or a short.

If you went long say 10pips above the first R at 1.0520 SL: 1.05 post PMI it could breakout to the 1.0556 level quickly.

If you went shor right after the announcement and set you stop loss above the channel breakout zone 1.0525 It would be a great place also for your stop to not get hit.

I am short as everyone knows so we will see if China delivers suprising news and we continue to trade lower back to Pre NY levels.

There should be some sort of retracement back down, at least a little. I would sell on a retracement to try and get back to break even, or at least a little closer to it.

Add: Forgot to mention, Gold is at a crucial point. The Feb-high to May-Low 50% FIB number.

This may cause some slowdown in the accelerating USDX decline and prove to be a turn around point.

It went just a few pips down...I think it is not enough to change trend...

It seems that market ignored news...

I held onto the 510 short and have an order to open long at 420 (above support). Have moved stop on 510 short to 450 (above 440 resistance). Will continue to try and profit from ranging market, trading support and resistance.

I have been looking into trading the AUDUSD for a while. What are the best times to trade it? It is more a around the clock because of it's open in relation to the US open and London? Also what is the average daily range of the AUDUSD. Also how much does it vary from your experience to the EURUSD. Thanks!

The Sydney / Tokyo time zone is much less active than London / New York .
However , major Australian data released at 11.30.am (SYD) and Chinese data released at 12.30.pm (SYD) can really move the AUD quite sharply if the release is out of line of consensus expectations . There's up to a dozen of potential market moving data releases per month .
Earlier on in the year average pip range was closer to 120 a day but as with all other currencies volatility has subsided in recent months .

Every single trader has own way to make an analysis ..i got my own rules like u guys ( Intraday and swing trade )..it is not possible to tell the rules here..I will be very2 carefully when i trade just for PA corrections ( few pips only ) on the smallest TF ( againts my big map )

We are in a typical slow month due to many people being on vacation.

The aussie/ japan session can be great for scalping, and don't let the usually tame market fool you, I have seen Asia push currencies 100+ pips easy,


Wait till September to see the sparks start flying again mate!

A good day for aussie is about 120 pips. max.
We have seen 150, yet, right now things are slow.

That chart posted is right in the middle of the slow season,

Yet it does hold some truth, while cable can move 250 + in a day, that would likely be a 150 pip day for aussie.

So you just add another lot!

Eur/USD and AUD/ USD are both risk. Right now at least.

In any case the USD ain't doing much, so.....

EUR and AUD are driven differently.

U/CAD and Aussie are known as the "commodity currencies" Yet I am surprised with aussie's lackluster performance this week while Gold Kicked major a$$... So no tie in or correlation is perfect.

don't rely on them.

that's why i pay more attention at least until end of this year to keep watching AUD/USD and UCAD to control my EUR/USD trade
