Mildly surprised "they" allowed that to happen on a summertime Friday. Could be plenty of long faces on the streets...nobody spending!

I don't put too much faith into this stuff, but at these two brokers, still plenty of retailers long on EA...incentive to continue the drop and bleed them out...

But...if a broker is reporting stats on a cross...EA for instance...are you saying they aren't reporting stats specifically based on open client positions on that pair? They're actually using an aggregate of Long EU and short AU positions to report their figures?

As I said...I think I may have the dumb.

hey big K,

went to that interview today. went good. hope to get news in a couple of weeks. in the mean time, i don't like this "don't know where to turn" feeling... i need to spend some money if i am going to go forward with my company but it will be a complete waste if i end up working "in space".

and i feel lazy as fuck, bro. too damn hot here these days. got some greenhouse work to do but who can work inside a greenhouse when it's 37ºC outside!

let's see how i wake up tomorrow...

no , not saying that - but any cross is just a calculation of the majors involved , in this case EA = EU/AU -- so if there is any squeeze it's predominantly on the majors themselves because they have the vast bulk of the volume in the market. Those who look at EA chart and say "wow this mofo dropped so much it's gotta bounce sometime soon , I'm getting long , etc" are in fact stating " EU is due for a bounce , I'm going long " and " AU has had a bit of a run , I'm going short " , simultaneously - they are adding liquidity for AU bulls/EU bears ,,, etc etc blah blah -- -- I'm waffling a bit -- I got stopped on my EA long from beginning of the week

I was wondering why nobody was talking about this in here this morning, then I remembered that most of you guys are international.

This was ALL over the news when I woke up this morning. The gf was sitting on the couch watching a bunch of survivors recounting the events. It's pretty horrific.

I can't say for certain, but this is what I would expect.

I used to trade spot and futures FX for a hedge fund in Chicago for ~2 years. All crosses are 'synthetic pairs', meaning there's no way to trade them directly.

If we had to do some size in something like EUR/AUD or EUR/GBP we did what we'd call a "triangle trade": buy EUR/USD while simultaneously selling USD/AUS so that the USD would cancel out and we'd be essentially long EUR/AUD.

I'm not sure how it's handled on the retail broker's side, but it wouldn't surprise me if it was handled in a similar fashion.

Absolutely tragic!

Don't know how I missed it...just wicked busy these days. Wish I missed it altogether, because I feel a little sick now. One of the dead was a 25 y/o girl that was an NHL sports writer, too. Just at the start of her career.

Dreadful.
