Forex Flash: EUR/USD to continue to trend lower in the coming week – BBH

Fri, Jul 13 2012, 22:23 CET FXstreet.com (Córdoba) - The BBH analyst team looks for the euro to continue to trend lower in the coming week. "We often find that the euro is well-correlated with the US-German 2-year interest rate differential", they say. "The premium the US offers over Germany is hovering around 28 bp, best since late 2007. It has also increased nearly 10 bp since late June, as German yields have fallen sharply due to safe haven demand".

"The focus remains on Spain and Italy. In exchange for additional time to reach its deficit targets, the Spanish government agreed to new austerity measures, which were announced earlier this week", they explain. "Spain's 10-year yield has nonetheless retraced nearly 50% of the move since June 28/29 Summit and the negative feedback of a deeper recession will likely feed into the next round of cuts".

"Spain will issue bills on Tuesday and bonds on Thursday, which will be important watch to gauge the market's demand for Spanish debt. Lastly, ZEW surveys out July 17 are likely to point to continued euro zone weakness", they add.

According to BBH key levels for EUR/USD on the upside are seen near $1.2340, $1.2460, says BBH while supports come near $1.2150, $1.1880.

If you open a demo account with Oanda ( www.oanda.co.uk ) , they start up at 19:00 GMT (3pm NY / 8PM London) and you will be able to see where price is before your broker opens (unless your broker is Oanda )

Also www.xe.com gives updated prices all weekend.

I have a strong intuition that we are on edge of financial disaster.

There are just too many signs out there that we could be near a BLACK SWAN Event.

Please post a picture of a female Black Swan to set the mood.

As for a Black Swan Event???? That's just an excuse for people not being able to see an event for what it is.

You listed a lot of 'potential' problems but you know what, it's July and in the summer the 'big boys' aren't playing so you don't have many 'Black Swan' events in the summer months.

I mean who really wants to come back from their vacation to deal with 7+% loans for Spain and Italy? It'll wait until September when the weather cools and market volitility increases.

As for the 'fiscal financial cliff' in the US? Give me a break that's not for another 6 months at the minimum and there's still an election that has to take place for goodness sake!

I guess what I'm getting at is chill off, sip a Margarita and relax, the sun will come out tomorrow

I meant my comments to give my sense of things based on my trading experience and research.

I said we could be near a Black Swan Event. That in itself means an unexpected event. EUROPE BERNAKE IRAN SYRIA

GOLD if we see a sudden rise to go along with Bernake's testimony could spell a worse situation and more QE.

EUROPE is more than on the edge now.

I could add links to my research however my post was not intended to do that. I read 20 to 50 informative articles each weekend and time does not permit me to post links.

I could post some if requested.

You can for sure have your views on EUR/USD going up however UNLESS we get RISK ON again EUR/USD is unlikely to rise much and if it does I will short it.

I hope this follow up post gave you some insight into my post earlier.

The Glass is Half Empty in my humble opinion and BERNAKE might just shatter it this week with his screams of protest.

DO NOT IGNORE The LIBOR issue as it continues on Monday in London.

IN The END the World Financial Markets are about CONFIDENCE in the system and with MF Global, PFG Best and now Barclays and LIBOR we are entering into unchartered waters.

Trade well and without being so sure that you do not see the Forest for the Trees.

This is meant as a positive post without any Ego involved just to share different views.

well folks, I had a call from one of my old brokers lastnight - Im on Singapore time..

he told me/warned me that all the major banks are now all long euro and that I should brace myself for minimal of a 5000 pip move up on euro starting sometime this week...

I told him I will sell my stuff, borrow money and visit a loan shark if needs be to get as much cash together to re-fund my account because that is a dream come true for sure!

so thought I would warn you guys that some guy on the phone says that this 5000 pip move will be happening HAHAHAHAHAHAAHAHA anyway made me laugh and smile so I thought Id share the grins...

happy Monday folks and safe trading for the week - had a quiet week last week due to previous weeks success.

there have been recent down-runs of way more than 10 days, and I only make it 8 for this one.

personally I see 1.20 on the cards before any significant retracement. Friday just looked like short-covering only to me.
