OK everyone, FxSpin and I just spent another 2.5hrs going over the new indicator, and I'm happy to report that it's looking great as ever. He had a really long list of mods from the last time we talked, and that list is now down to maybe 5 more things before we'll feel good about releasing it. He said he needs a couple more weeks to make the changes and do some testing, etc. The best thing coming from these changes, is that the indicator is now designed to act as a diagnostic tool that will quickly help you find the best sweet spot no matter the pair or the time frame. The attached pic shows how the corner graph looks now; it's much more complete than before. The "Net Pips" line is your money shot!

I have only just come back from holiday to hear the great news. I cannot wait to test it, it seems like it will save me a lot of time on what I currently do manually. Thank you very much Forexhard and FXSpin.

This is going to not only make setting your parameters easier but also make it easier to take losses knowing it is only a mater of time / trades and you will be profitable.

Thanks to both of you, your generosity of your time is appreciated.

I am sure that the new indi will be a great help to us all.

Now let me remind you all of something really important when you use it in due course:

Your testing will inevitably lead you to fine tune the settings to give the best result, please remember that you are testing history, it does not mean that the same will happen in the future. Unfortunately too your test settings cannot take into account the spread fluctuations that our friendly providers play around with all the time. Always remember the spread when calculating entries for longs and exits for shorts, your chart only ever shows the selling prices for open hi lo and close.

This system FXH has so generously shared with us and helped us to understand is a wonderful edge that we can use however we like to use it.

I leave you with the wonderful advice of Mark Douglas of Trading In The Zone fame:

Anything can happen

You don't need to know what is going to happen next in order to make money

There is a random distribution between wins and losses for any given set of variables that defines an edge

An edge is nothing more than an indication of a higher probability of one thing happening over another

Every moment in the market is unique

I read that book regularly

RE the updated indi... There are still some bugs to work out, and some mods that still need coding. And then there will be even more bugs after that. It's just how these things go, especially when it's being done right. So I'm going to hold off teaching about the new features until it's finally ready to be released. And please understand that none of the current rules of SSBO will be changed in any way by this indicator. It doesn't change a thing, it just helps to enhance your SSBO experience still using the current rules and guidelines.

Meanwhile, this amazing breakout gave me 45p last night.

All I know is I want my CZ's to have at least 30 M15 bars, and I want them to be less than 30p tall. My indicator defaults are set to 30 bars, so anything less won't even pop up on my radar screen. Saves a lot of time that way, trust me.

CZ's with 40 bars get my attention even more.

CZ's under 25p tall do too.

42 bars and +/-20p tall is enough to make me lose sleep over.

There can be any number of refinements to this process, but the underlying principle remains the same: The shorter the CZ, and the longer CZ, the better we like...

Another amazing price arc on Cable M15, and a prime reason for why I set my TP at 50p or less.

For reasons best known to themselves the Swiss National Bank (SNB) have decided that the CHF will be tied to the EUR within the narrow range that you observed. Please do not trade it for a breakout, not yet anyway.

You would also be well advised not to trade CHF and EUR against the same currency eg GBP or USD at the same time, it is like a duplicate trade so double risk. I have no charts open with CHF... at all, not worth looking at if you have EUR... charts open.

Those are my thoughts.

RE Pipocrates's question (and Larry's answer), this pic shows E/CHF Daily.

Take this as a lesson on how easy it is for a major bank (or set of banks) to manipulate prices.

Oh, don't worry, a lot of very big traders are waiting for the SNB to run out of $ to buy EUR, then they will make the big money while we watch and wonder what the hell happened.

Plenty of pips to be made elsewhere, leave the EURCHF to the big boys.

Hello all...

I've been feverishly working away at getting the best settings for the indicator. However i'm unsure if what I have is too conservative or just plain wrong! I see that we're looking for low pip range and a decent bar count.

Eur/Usd

Cable

Should I aim to reduce my bar count and increase my box count up a little?

Cheers guys

If I may comment.

Choose settings that will give you about 3 or 4 boxes per week on average, FXH has said long and low is good, so aim for that. But you must now go back and test your settings to see what stop and profit setting will give you an acceptable profit over at least a 6 month back test.

I have spent hundreds of hours on my back testing, it is the only way to trade forward with confidence, and even then the market will NOT be the same as the back test, so do not be disappointed when your 10% a week profit back test does not happen going forward with demo or live trading.

When we get our new indi we will at least have more stats to help us with our settings, but see my previous post about that as well.
