ON INDICATORS.

Based on a PM...i think i should clarify my post earlier about indicators.

I havent seen an indicator that is not based on some averaging methodology....they all use moving averages in one form or the other. look at their math.

Moving averages are mean , ergo, they are lagging, therefore, indicators are lagging.

The only way around this is : If you entered a sustained move in the market, hence, your lagging, late entry doesnt matter. you are in a good run...you are riding that wave...momentum.....inadvertently or not.

yes, there are indicators and there are oscillators...but they are both moving averages formulations if you look at the math.

Overbought...oversold...trending market renders it off. Ranging market trades? we are back to the issue of lagging....

Now, correct me if i am wrong, but the way i see around this lagging problem is to use an indicator specifically calibrated to work for a specific time...then turn around and use it on a higher time frame....e.g....let say our special indicator, inDANCator was specifically built for 1hr time frame....instead, use it for 4hour time frame......if it is lagging on 1hr.....it wont be lagging on 4hr time frame.--it will be leading, hopefully. At the end of the day....any price action changes in market direction starts materializing first on lower time frame before higher time frame....

The problem: How do you know what parameters of the moving averages(the settings of the indicators/oscillators) is best suited for the time frame you are trading?...should something else be used to build indicators all together? were these indicators --based on MAs--these indicators built during the 70s and 80s commodities market--a market that smoothly respects moving averages now obsolete?....Anyways, how higher up in time frame do i have to go to turn this lagging indicator to a leading indicator without generating too many false positives?

I WASNT ABLE TO SOLVE THIS PROBLEM...HENCE I SAID THAT i couldnt warp my brain around indicators...to me the very issue goes beyond "overbought" or "oversold".....

I'm the same bro. I still add indi's occasionally to see if I can apply them to my trading however more often than not I find myself missing out on trades. Sometimes I add them during trending markets if I want to monitor more pairs than usual but overall they just confuse me. The only indi I use all the time is the custom candle to watch higher tf's without having to toggle back and forth between tf's.

Euro doing stupidos become more a funding currencie seems the market start to realize that.Wonder if whe gonna see a long long summer chop in the yuro.........

this is also an indicator......one i follow closely. how it works from one to another is kind of subjective if you know what i mean.......depends on how and what is applied with the right timing.
