I think Merkel should step down before is too late (elections are too far) if they want the EU to be saved.

She has done a very good job for Germany (an example to follow in terms of macroeconomic management and fiscal responsibility without overlooking the social costs) to cope with the crisis at the cost of putting the EU and the EZ (and the world economy) on the brink.

Germany is playing with fire now that can backfire. If they don't want to pay the price, they better start proposing more realistic options or let the whole Euro project collapse.

Yep forget Greece leaving the Euro, IMO the first country to leave will be Germany. They are the only country that can afford to leave anyway.

i said it mostly because we are all waiting for what the ecb says. but since Spain hasn't audited like they are proposing. then there is no way to know how much money is needed. even with a figure. the cost will probably rise with the housing crash in Spain. and they will be right back for more.

if we are all waiting.. without an audit already, in their hand. whats the point? unless they are just giving out blank checks.

Yeap thats the key issue in Spain. The pigs (Spanish banks) have artificially keep their balance sheet is hope mode ...as long as we don't burst that bubble, Spain will be on the headlines for more...

I really don't know what to expect on the ECB conference today but it can be a wild mover (more than usual).

No man land intraday until the interest rate announcement. An unexpected cut will make a short term move that we haven't seen in a long time in currencies...if not we still need to wait for the conference.

indeed...the key, in my opinion, is using homeade shrimp broth, which is an extra hassel, but worth it...fresh tomatoes don't hurt either...

True, but I don't know if that is sustainable in the current circumstances. A Deutsche Mark will be fly to 3 to or even 4 (for some analyst) to 1 to the dollar combined with a devaluation of 30% (or more) in the other main EZ importers killing in one shot all competitiveness in the short term on German exports and putting us back to inter World Wars period of protectionism, artificial devaluation and a race to the bottom....

So far only the UK can take the unfair (or fair depending on your side) advantage (well so far they are worst in growth, employment and inflation than Germany and France so not sure about the advantage) of artificially devaluing the Pound ...imaging all core countries in a currency war ....lol ...better not think about that ...

40% unemployment... it will fix itself. seems like a good time to buy a Spanish
