Hmm, discussions abound this evening over the Greek incumbent President, Karolos Papoulias, and how he held audience with the caretaker government’s Defence Minister Frangos Frangoulis, and military chiefs of the country’s armed forces this afternoon.

Apparently he has their support for curtailing the social meltdown, and along with several parties from the recent election potentially agreeing to form a coalition that would see Alexis Tsipras leading a new government , which leaning to the left but wanting to remain in the Euro, could thus be possibly seen by the markets as positive for the Euro. You know, to continue with the austerity measures imposed by the defilers in Northern Europe, and crushing any local dissent using small lead weights that under propulsion, do contain critical mass.

looking over the year chart for S&P and compared to last May and summer not too bad so far........also there were a number of sharp rallies post selling and i guess maybe that along with who knows what conversations in back channels and/or ECB stepping into the bond/bank re cap mkts or the FED are taking place........

here is a very interesting article re Lagarde and her taxes on US income of approx $450,000 not including a raft of other benefits (zero tax paid of course) and her recent admonishments to Greeks over their responsibility to PAY their taxes

is this the height of hipocracy?

Recoveries: No, I am of the opinion that we are in the midst of major contraction in all economies. Sure, earnings' reports may look good on paper, but only due to downsizing - read firing people - and any consumer or likewise related figures should be placed into context alongside a much longer period of evaluation… that is when they are not manipulated – of which I feel that most figures these days are.

Dollar: until it loses its reserve status, it is where money - not necessarily associated with the working class of the US - will be parked, as, well, where else will money park itself in order to find a large enough shield to protect itself against the storm above ? You can see it has been happening since the middle of last year, and as pointed out on ZH, the same market behaviours are occurring today as did in 2008.

It is going to be a grind for the next ten years, that I feel sure about. Indeed, I still favour a major depression in 2016, but as with all objects that begin to roll downhill, the speed and direction of the roll can often be hard to predict.

misery loves company...........i was short OIL from high 105s and took profits way too early.

i was short the Dow last night from 12,540. when price dropped early i moved a stop to BE....got stopped out on the spike at 7AM over EU ATM
