after they leave or whatever at first it should be bad and getter better quick. if i was china, my mouth would be watering. would the Greeks allow the Chinese to fund a super port in the heart of Europe for cheaper Asian products. what about s korea or japan funding it. This would revive Greek shipping. what if the Greeks did the same with their airport.. u.s. to Europe 1/2 price. the greeks have many by the balls. all that ass and they don't know how to use it.

few things happen in last decade, and changed the whole Point of interest. With Slovenia and Croatia [very soon], EU and especially Germany getting the access at Adratic Sea - [one of the reason for Greek tourism business fail]. But with Romania and Bulgaria entry EU made an access to Black Sea.

It is all about the money, but it is the fact that Greece since 1947 existing and supported only with external sources of funding. [NATO and later with EU]. Probably someone [Germans] made some advanced math and decided to cut the loss..

you are right.. in any case [outcome] Greeks are on the short side..

if thought through.. the Asians could have a cheap gateway to europe. even Brazil is looking for an opening for trade. they could supply a cheaper pretro sub for Europe. if the Greeks play their hand right they could even bring down the mighty Germany (manufacturing) and GB (petro).. Asian products and Brazilian energy would be a game changer. If thought through the Greeks could be a hub for European air travel and Asia/Americas/ African commerce to Europe. with investors standing in line. . .

I agree, but the only problem is "The Reputation" - where honesty.. is the key word.

Greeks having a Huge Homework to make.. First..

as for a Hub, there are few other countries in the area which are at strategically strong points. As an EU associate, Montenegro, Albania, are nothing different then Greece. They are even Cheaper.. and easy to govern..

Dont underestimate the "wild Card" - Turkey... where the economy is booming only with the fact that 50% of the population is between 18-35Y old.. [someone said - baby boom generation ?? ]
