Yep. I've been actually meaning to sign up for a bunch of those penny "alerts". Do exactly this... it's rare that they actually take off beyond the initial pump.

tim sykes has done a master class on it, not sure how much he charges for the videos, but you can prolly get them cheap on ebay...
