the drop was too fast and steep to not have been an orchestrated sell off with no obvious catalyst (NFP does not count although it gets used as a rationale). the trigger signal was the Saudi stmt over concerns about high price when it was around 106 (i was short but bailed way too early)

also the timing is suspect as the drop coincides with the start of Obama's pres campaign and just before the beginning of US driving season which officially kicks off Memorial Day weekend late May (nothing like falling gasoline prices at the pumps to get consumers smiling again - not that i am a cynic or anything)

then the real kicker - falling crude price is a stimulus for the economy that does not require the FED to print a nickel........win win win and the art of perception mgt at its best (gee things are starting to actually improve)

the inventories at Cushing are manipulated to give the appearance of demand but if you look at the number of outstanding futures contracts as rollover approach it usually looks like a lot of excess that has to be sold into last trading day so the 'speculators' (who are all friends with the polticians) can do it too the consumer again next month and the month after and so on.......like clockwork

as for the Japanese lower oil price probably makes expanding stimulus a bit more difficult

Yeah well lets hope it will drop more will be loading the truck on the other side it shook out a lot of speculators will see if it bottoms out but output is at the peak. In canada there is still lot of oil but to get it cheap out the ground is the problem. I am not peak oil guy but i am bullish on oil everywhere you need it and imports are rising even the global growth is slowing. Not gonna bottom pick on it because it can slice sharp as a knife will wait for it to get to stretched at some point again ussually crude goes in Accumalation phase range first then trying to buy range lows when it does that. opec called $100 a fair price now for oil also summer months comming i also heard cme raised margins again and there was a lot of liquidation in $uso what had a effect on the futures not sure what to think of it so far. But also it was bit overcrowded to the long side with this Iran thing. 1thing in this whole sell off gold pretty stabile a hope thing or it lagged?? So far win win for President obama manipulated election year.
