I am looking at it from the viewpoint of a common citizen. Up to now, media created the image of the lazy Greek who retired at the age of 50. Germans are extremely envious when it comes to social achievements and up until now, the peoples's opinion was like "Why should we work until 67 (at least) when the Greek can retire earlier, hang them (the Greeks - in the European sense)"
We are not happy with millions unemployed and just not being counted in the statistics that are handed out to the markets, the youth without perspective, military commercials running on TV - something being a first in my whole life.
Merkel was elected, because her predecessor (Schroeder) introduced the socially most disadvantageous measures, and that was coming from a socialist party. Most of her votes came from people who already forgot (and we have a tendency to forget quickly) what Kohl did to this country... there is no real alternative here, some protest is on the rise with votes going to a party calles "The Pirates" - a bunch of nerds (in a positive sense) without realistic political ideas that also include foreign affairs...

These days, it (once again kind of) sucks to be German.

Hindsight is a bitch! Do I regret not going short? No. After opening so much lower than Friday's close, the only account I ever would have gone short on would be a demo. Do I regret doing nothing? Maybe a little...but I'll tell you later!

Up $6 on Gold...flat on EU as it stands. All fine here...for now.

Now if EU keeps tanking, and Gold swings north...I may change my mood!

I'm going to get a bit of sleep now, but I'd like to inform you that the Euro is strengthening with every touch of 2962-6, so I think it will bounce.

lets add low unemployment is kinder a false image. when you got one guy giving up hours so another can say he is employed. making them both under employed. i might add.. bend over... and take it like a man.
