As we both know, stops / exits are key.

I briefly tested various combinations of candle color change, candle closes, etc. - but no indicator-based exits - and most seem to let the trade linger at a loss too long (as indicator based exits tend to do in my experience as well).

Therefore I have now loaded what I use manually - a specific SL, TP, and BE / profit protection. Trail testing will be next.

It's really too bad we cannot simply enter the trade manually to evaluate the stops - that would really speed things up.

(And here BTW - [u][b]Seller9...

That is normal, this is not a trade manager but only acts on what has already been placed with the Broker. When you tell it to manage the trade it just tells the Robot a trade is open so don't open another one and act on what is already in place, so everything should work accept the SL and TP which are placed at the beginning of a trade. If a trade is open and these are not already in place you need to enter these and then let the Robot carry on from there.

From one of our past exchanges where you were going to include my suggestion in your next release.

I have a worthwhile enhancement to it:

Add the ability to select a higher time frame for confirmation of this
(This is something I do manually now - but forgot to mention. When I trade manually, I perform countless activities without even realizing I am doing them as I have been doing by rote for over 2 years.)

So,

  1. for the market line to be above/below 50 - settable and lockable in current time frame as well as confirm-able / settable / lockable in a higher / other time frame
  2. and so on for each of the three functions below.

Again, these portions of the indicators and their behaviors relative to the 50 line and the market line has clearly increased the odds of success when played properly. It simply makes for a "higher probability trade".

For your review and consideration. Again, thank you.

So this is what you want, make any changes to this list and I will see if I can get it in the next version.

1) RSI Price Line (Green Line) >< 50 and Lock Option, cross Red Option, and cross yellow Option.
2) Trade Signal Line (Red Line) >< 50 and Lock Option, and cross Yellow Option.
3) Market Base Line (yellow Line) >< 50 and Lock Option

4) New- see below - Parabolic SAR - long or short- and Lock Option
___________________________________ _________________________

Yes - as above. Excellent. (As long the option does not require a lock step order - that is "...A must proceed B in order for C...")

Some thoughts for your consideration...

I mentioned that I made & have been trading with slight modifications to the original Synergy TDI method which add logical assurances to build a "higher" probability trade.

  1. I use the Parabolic SAR (set to .1/.01), Pivots (S3,S2,S1, P, R1, R2, R3), Support and Resistance for current chart TF & 3 Higher time frames, and a couple of other items.

I do not have your coding skills or knowledge.

  1. My guess (and hope) is that adding the Parabolic SAR (long or short and lock option) though, would be the easiest to add - and of value.

I've been reading this Thread and the Trade made Simple for some days now.

I wanted to test this EA, so I download it from the first page, read the PDF and put all the files in the respective folders.

It's not my first time using EAs.

I'm with the v1.09 and trying several set files posted on this thread.
I keep getting the error as attached.

I read in some post that was because of the news, I got that to false.
Maybe this problem happened before, if so I missed those posts, sorry.

As you can see in the screen shot the EA is sleeping. I've got the hour from 0-12 and 12-24.
I tried the set files from the first post but couldn's get any trade.

Please help, I would like to contribute.

Thanks in advance

BAFFA:

I am new to this as well - and have received help from others.

I had that message as well - fixed it.

My attached setting works.

Try loading my attached set - or at least reviewing and comparing it to what you have. See what's different and adjust accordingly.

Then load your particular items one at a time.

That could be helpful for now - until someone comes in with far more experience than I.

Good luck

Jd88, thanks for your quick answer and the file.

I tried your file and the EA doesn't say it's sleeping anymore

It still returns the ivalid handle -1 "error".
I'm loading it in several pairs, let's see if it trades.

Thanks again

Sorry to be posting a lot!

Just so you know the EA is now opening trades

The "invalide handle -1" presists and would like to know what it means.

Thanks,

I still don't understand what hapenned, but the problem is solved. Now I can begin testing the EA.

Thanks,

I am changing the purpose of this forum from one of just working on the etb EA to working on other ones also right here, this way I don't have to start any new forums and everything is in one place. The new forum user may find a lot to read, but thats all part of the learning experience.

The etb EA is full so has reached the end where more can be added to it. What I will be doing now is creating small and unique "KISS" EAs that are designed around one trading idea, this way it makes it much easier to build and create these with less bug problems and a faster turn around time. I do forward test all EAs for at least one or two weeks before posting, just to make sure they at least work to some degree, so this can be a slow precess.

I have redone the first page so I suggest that before anyone posts anything further they go and read it.

Two other EAs that I will be working on to start off with that will be on the first page are the ichoimoku break out EA and also an EA based on using Pivots and Support and Resistance areas to place trades. There are many sites on the internet "Google" to find out more about these trading styles, these are not unique styles and have been used for years by many traders. I don't believe anyone has found the Holy Grail yet, so lets keep looking, it gives us something to do.

You are welcome to take any of the EAs found in this forum and use them for your own personnel use and if you have time, everyone would appreciate your testing results and comments on them.

We are all here to learn how to make money, so Good Luck

Version 10 is on the first page and I have started testing it again, I see others have also been doing a fine job of testing and finding the best settings to use. the one shown below is using a ichimoku of 3-11-3 with a BEJS of 7/1/1 on 11 pairs, all the same settings on all 11 pairs so far, I just want to see if version 10 is working OK, will try some of the posted best settings next week. I have use clean candle set to false also, so it jumps in right after the confirmed break out of the cloud. Below is one trade where you can see the JS following along and it looks like we are just about to get taken out for a profit. You can see the list of the other trades that are presently open in the trade tab at the bottom.

Good Luck to all traders and lets get to making some money

I understand your comments on the change.

Does this still fit into your new approach?

  1. The suggestions / requests i made for the ETB EA - on the relative position of market and 50 lines to crosses, ability to lock these, confirm on Higher Time frames, etc. - in the last few posts - are consistent with the TDI rules as developed by Compass.

  1. Would it be possible to include those enhancements in the EA before you cease work on it - as it would appear to make the original EA effort complete - at least with regard to the TDI Synergy manual method? Assuming that this was the original intent of your effort?

  1. (Things like Hanover, STOCH and several other items in the current ETB may be helpful, but were not part of the TDI method, while location / proximity of Market Line, 50 line, etc. as I suggested, I believe are classic components.)

Once in place - I believe that I could then take my 2 year's worth of manual TDI experience and put it to more effective testing - and therefore of greater potential value to you and the others here.

Would you consider accepting this thought?

Thanks again for your time and efforts!

I look forward to contributing value to the new thrust.

It may be best to create a new clean EA for just your method, and then if any additions are needed just add them later on. Can you post a complete list of what you would require in an EA for your method?

I'm relative new to this thread.

I'm testing the ETB v109 and as I understand you wont be working on this EA anymore.

I agree that the EA is too full. I don't use most of the tools as my trade is based on The trade made simple thread.

My concern is that you won't be able to please everyone and make a specific EA for everyone.
I must say I'm enjoin the ETB EA, and soon I'll be posting results of my tests. I really appreciate your work and effort and I'll be happy to help in any way I can.

I have a question generic to any EA. Do you have any tool/method/idea to deal with spread? I think spread is my n1 enemy right now!!!

Thanks,

Baffa

(sorry about the typo in your "handle" - been up for 18 hours - no dinner yet. You know the life!

Thanks Seller9 – your suggestion to start with a simpler clean slate to create the TDI EA is both logical and generous.

I have never done this before – so I hope it is useful to you. Please tell me what else you need and if I should send it to you PM / offline.

Not in any particular order.

My Manual Model for approx 2 years is largely a classic and accurate application of the original TDI method. After thousands of hours of experimentation with this method and countless others, I found a home here.

I get my signals on the M5 - confirm on the M15 and M30 and enter on the M1

Indicators:

  1. TDI - essential
  2. Price Action channel (the 5MA set to high / low) –essential
  3. Heiken Ashi Zone candles (HA with Williams’ Accelerator and Awesome built in – not essential, but HA is)
  4. ATR – I only trade when ATR is adequate – essential;
  5. 89 EMA – essential (but EA should allow selection of any period and type of MA)
  6. Pivots (R3,2,1..P…S1,2,3) - essential
  7. MTF Support & Resistance – settable for any time & multiple frames on the same chart. I trade on the M5 so I show levels for M30, H1, H4 – essential
  8. Parabolic SAR - essential (EA - with user selectable settings - I do not use the standard .2 / ,02)
  9. (I use / test some other indicators - but they are not essential to success)

My Method / Rules – Long:

As you expect…

  1. ATR >7 (EA - should be an adjustable setting (degree of ATR), candle lookback and lockable – and selectively watchable / tied to a selectable Higher Time Frame)
  2. PAC sloped up (EA - should be an adjustable setting (degree of slope), candle lookback and lockable) and selectively watchable / tied to a selectable Higher Time Frame
  3. 89 EMA sloped up (EA - should be an adjustable setting (degree of slope), candle lookback and lockable) and selectively watchable / tied to a selectable Higher Time Frame
  4. PAC =/> 89EMA (EA - should have candle lookback and be lockable) and selectively watchable / tied to a selectable Higher Time Frame
  5. PSAR shows long (EA - PSAR should have adjustable settings, should have candle lookback and be lockable) and selectively watchable / tied to a selectable Higher Time Frame
  6. Candle closes on upper line of PAC (EA - should have candle lookback and be lockable) and selectively watchable / tied to a selectable Higher Time Frame
  7. TDI:

A. Most conservative: Price crosses above Signal above Market & all 3 above 50 line
B.Conservative: Price crosses above Signal; both are below Market and 50 line but Market is above 50 line
C.Less Conservative: Price crosses above Signal, both are above 50 line, but Market is below 50 line
D.Least Conservative / Most Risky: Price crosses above Signal, both are above Market line but all 3 are below 50
Also: Crosses or locations near 32 or way below 50 line are risky. Best if all lines point up and not above 68

So for the EA – as we discussed in a previous exchange – each variable – e.g., Price and signal cross relative to the Market and 50 lines are selectable to allow any combination as above with candle lookback and lockable and selectively watchable / tied to a selectable Higher Time Frame

  1. Avoid entry if price is in proximity to any Support & Resistance or Pivot.

    1. Price must bounce or penetrate with conviction – not just touch or slightly penetrate – so this would likely require a user adjustable setting – maybe of help to you / us in your S & R EA we are now going to test. (I tried it today 0 and it seems to fire as soon as price passes through a Pivot / S&R – and we know that many trades will fail because a slight pass through lacks conviction and therefore follow through.

  2. Exits:

I actually use The CAVE MANAGER EA by Stratman – it is excellent. I attached the ex4 file but could not attach his PDF guide - so here's a link for your use:

http://www.forexfactory.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=465683&d=1272413034

EA permitting any combination / on / off of the actions below

    1. Fixed Sl and TP in PIPS
    2. Sl and TP as a multiplier of the current ATR at time of entry (with ATR period and multiplier factor user adjustable)
    3. Profit protection at x PIPS - “no loss after x Pips” and / or No loss buffer in PIPS
    4. Trail as a fixed number of Pips OR as a multiplier of ATR
    5. Trail buffer – keeps current price ahead of Trail by x PIPS
    6. Batches for scale in and out
    7. Broker stealth on / off for any

In addition, I would simply re-include several of your useful settings that are not "indicator-related", but rather price action related. Always potentially helpful.

Based upon my knowledge of your ETB EA thus far, it would appear that some or much of the code is there in some form as the functionality appears to be there to this novice user.

The above method works. I hope it can be mechanized / automated. My wife would welcome my company. She’ll send you a "Thank you” card.

I am standing by to provide more info or otherwise.

Thanks Seller9. You do good things.
