this is referred to as modern slavery. It is impossible to get by working min wage jobs without govt assistnce. Then when one falls in the welfare trap, they are very likely stay there.

Okay. Obviously my post wasn't clear. It happens. I know what's in my head but I have found that when I try to explain something, it doesn't come across as intended.

I'm not missing any point. Smittens4212 referred to young professionals not people attending school. Young professional (to me) means working.

I just quickly outlined what you can earn working on a keyboard doing two full-time jobs (£1,000+ per week). I've also outlined how you can find accommodation in London fairly cheaply (around £400 per calendar month with bills included with some accommodation). That leaves you with £3,600. As you are going to be working so much you're not going to need a lot of spending money so let's just put £150 aside per week for other expenses. That leaves you with £3,000 per month to save. Do you think I am talking out of a hole in my head? Bro, I've done it. Several times.

And who said blow it all in two weeks? With £9,000 you can go travelling for at least three months (maybe longer). Okay, when I said full-time jobs, I mean working full-time hours but being a temporary worker. When you temp you can buzz off anytime you like.

You hand in your notice at your flat, give your meagre belongings to a friend to look after and when you've run out of money, you doss for a couple of days with the friends that are looking after your meagre belongings and go frantically look for accommodation again and you start all over again. You don't always have to hand in notice at your flat though. If you've got good value accommodation, you can keep your room on (after all, it's only £400 per month including bills) and you can take trips all over the place. That's why London is such a great place to live. Couple of weeks in the Algarve, Portugal, couple of weeks in Turkey, couple of weeks in the Greek Isles, couple of weeks in Spain, couple weeks in Morocco. Long weekend in Amsterdam ..... you get the picture.

If you do decide to take advantage of your friends though, don't forget to take them out for a nice meal, get them pissed and buy them a gift because you never know, you just might need their assistance again, when you go hooning off on your next journey.

I see you are from the States though and it's pretty well known that most Americans don't like to travel outside of their comfort zone. Apparently only 30% of you have passports compared to over 80% of Brits. Yeah, I know you have a beautiful country and all that but the Eiffel Tower in Vegas does not compare to the Eiffel Tower in Paris and you can have a coffee down the Champs Elysee while you are at it and stare at all those beautiful French girls.

As to working so much. Hey, it's only three months and you don't have to do it all at once. Six weeks working double shifts here, have a break, six weeks working double shifts there. It's called short term pain for long term gain. Well, that's how I looked at it.

Well, I don't know, I wouldn't call earning over £1,000+ per week modern slavery. And you can choose to work two jobs ... or not.

Completely agree, although I'm a junkie and enjoy trading I sometimes wonder what life would be have been if I didn't put in the hours. Just turned 23 been trading since 21, only issue now is defeating my agoraphobia.

19. Been trading for about 8 months, it pays for food, beer, fuel and going out (plus putting some away in case). I much prefer it to a part time job. I also do engineering at uni so it's convenient to have work when I have the time.

Trading certainly does not interfere with my social life.

Nice to see an honest post. Just get on out there. Plenty of time for forex and kids later. Make the most of your 20s. Life is too short.

I would like to point out a logical flaw to this thread.

I'm not saying that it is bad. Or going out to demeanor the OP. But.......

1)Old people tend to not go online to discuss things. They are in general less tech savvy.
2)They don't communicate the way teenager of this generation do. They do things slightly older style. Through phones or the once a day email. The idea of an online community doesn't rub off too well with them.

So what you are left with is (as your friend suggested) a bunch of 20-30 year olds talking with one another. This is common on all social forums. Just look at facebook or any other site. In fact, even linkedin which is a social site for professionals. The active users will always be participants from gen x and gen y. This should be expected.

But looking at the polls right now, I'm kinda glad that about half the population is actually over 30. This means that the proportions balance out. Or at least I would like to think so.

Age 0 - 40 = 51.17%
Age 50+ = 48.83%

i am 50

34, been at this for a few years and hoping to become a CTA within a few more years. just need to build up my funds so i can concentrate on trading longer timeframes. thinking about starting a signal service in the meantime, might use twitter or something then start charging for it once i hook em in!

right now i just cherry pick my returns. i let the big boys set the trend and jump in for the scraps.

I am in my 77th year. I am sure Forex would be a lot easier in your twenties! I have been demoing for 18 months and now some live trading as well for last 6 months. Doing much better at demo than live, but believe I am getting there, hope I live long enough to succeed!! Sometimes I think I'm there, then find out that I'm not there yet. I am encouraged by the belief that "You have not failed until you give up".
