I was actually working on a pretty frickin big film in NYC in 2001. Even got to take in 9/11 in Manhattan. But...slightly before that, I lived in Brooklyn for 3+ months while working on the film. Two doors from where I was living, was Biggie's mother's place...where he grew up...and where she still lived. There's a plaque there and all...even was then.

Crazy time...very strange memories. Aaliyah had just passed away, too. Then...September 11th. Wild!

i was on catalina issland in cali in 2001 and we were stuck on the island for a week before they would open up the port of los angeles to us again...

Scorcese...Gangs of New York. I just checked...my business got the credit, not my name on that one...so I can remain incognito!

Was mad! 26 years old in the big city from Dublin. All kinds of Irish connections on the film, too...part of the reason I was hired. Riding high...having an absolute ball!

I'll never forget the length of the queues in Times Square to enlist! I nearly did it myself! Crazy, crazy times.

It was a pity what happened to the film, though. It was shout down after 9/11. I guess it seemed the right thing to do...for sure, but the film suffered. Sensitivity crept in, and a bunch of stuff was cut out. Even the final scene where it dissolves from the old NYC skyline (from Brooklyn) to the (then) modern skyline...including the just fallen World Trade Center... The decision to actually use that too k months and months.

Horrible tragedy...obviously...but that film used to be SOOOOOOOO much better before those fakkers did what they did! May be a "Directer's Cut" version released one day. I would if I was him...because he had a vision. Was doing a an amazing job painting it...but dirty bastard external forces fakked with it. Insignificant, at the end of the day, when you look at what happened...but still!

I'm there...plenty of places...just not on that one...I checked! My business is in the credits, but not my name (although I think it is on the DVD). At the time, I couldn't get an official work visa in time, so it went through my business.
