Are u guys day trading or swing trading? Have anyone use the Box Options? I'm interested to hedge my position with box options. is that possible?

I have used Oanda USA, Oanda Canada in the past. Recently switched to Oanda Asia. I find that Oanda Asia has less disconnections compared to USA and Canada. It also provides better security as it sends a security pin to your cellphone everytime you log in.

oanda has introduced the cfd contracts (for europeans only ).. what do you think? thanks

Its a nice addition, but spreads aren't really that attractive compared to the better cfd dealers. 2 on Dax, 5 on Dow, 0.8 on S&P. Maybe they get tighter once they go live with this.

Also, the way they are doing it is not very Oanda-esque. Its a fixed contract size (i.e. 1 Euro per Dax point per cfd). Thats kind of at odds with their FX product strategy where there is no minimum ticket size. You could compare their new CFDs with dealing with fixed 10K contracts in FX. I would have liked it much more if it was a better fit to their overall product: no or very small min. ticket size, good/acceptable spreads, overnight and over-weekend trading and box-options. Instead, their CFDs are a quite standard run-of-the-mill product with very average transaction-costs, and it just doesnt smell like Oanda. Maybe they are getting fat and lazy.

OMG! That's awesome! Btw after further reading the restrictions is only for American residence and its territories...... and irony considering Oanda started in America.

well, that's it for me with Oanda

trading EURNZD, SL at 1.6270
at 1229 GMT, 28th March, low of 1.62699 was reached on OA's charts, low for most other br0kers was 1.6289ish

of course my position was stopped

OA rep, basically informed me it was all legit at OA's end, market fair value is irrelevant for MMs......apparently

stay away from this br0ker, on the street, most would call this theft

No it's not theft and it's not their fault. You know why? Because they've already told you that they reserve the right to widen their spreads AND gave you their spread history to show you how they do it. And you still joined them anyway.

I could never freely day-trade with that kind of shit going on everyday. Day-traders/scalpers can easily avoid this by switching to a true ECN with raw spreads. I've said many times in this thread, and yet people still choose to join the spread-widening market maker and then come complaining about getting stopped out by spread widening.

Oanda does tell you that spreads widen and even show it to you via historical spreads. But where it does lie is when it tries to make it look like it's not their doing but rather that of its data providers, and that it's simply passing on that widening to you the trader.

This is such bullshit. Oanda is a market maker. IT widens the spreads to protect its bottom line (though spreads can widen a bit in the real market when liquidity is low, just not THIS much).

Hence this type of BS shouldn’t occur under normal trading conditions. But it does because OA don’t want to pay the cost of entering the interbank market, plus it’s a nice way to make a buck.......via spread widening.

Nevertheless, OA behave contrary to their own propaganda.

That said, I was testing their performance……….lesson learnt, I will not be funding this account to any significant level. PERIOD!

well you can consider this the modus operandi for most MMs out there. As they dun charge commissions, that's the only way they make their buck and like all unregulated humans they tend to get greedy at times. The only way to avoid excessive spread widening would be to avoid MMs altogether and stick to a reputable ECN...
