EU Daily, I have a long term view that eu is on its way to 1.50-1.60. If that is the case then price should not be trading below 1.3412, if it does then it is bearish and should continue down breaking the Jan 10 low.
Currently trading long off 1.3455.

EU 4hr, longs are also confirmed by support off the green lows on Monday, next move should be back into the midpoint at 1.3552.

AU 4hr, I have been holding longs on au since 9975 on Friday, to confirm an upmove price needs to be trading above the midpoint, otherwise it could be down into 9900 this week.

Hi Amy

As EU failed to break the recent highs above 138 last week and since this week EU has made a lower low than last week I am short term bearish. Therefore I went short at the close of the last 4 hr bar at 1.3534. PA touched the 4 hr lows then it went to the 4hr midpoint at 1.3549. Now I am expecting EU to return to the lows from the midpoint. If EU has a daily close above the midpoint at 1.3549 without returning to the lows, then my view was incorrect.

By the way have you read any books written by Frank Dilernia. His first book was listed on the Robert Krausz website. I just bought Market Timing, Market Trading, his new book. He has been using Fibonnaci trader for years. He uses range bars and dynamic fibonacci range too, going from midpoints to lows/highs. His website has some interesting free trading articles.

I just noticed EU daily dynamic trio has turned bearish too for the first time since Jan lows.

I am still longterm bullish on eu as long as it does not break the 1.3400 level.

Franks work is excellent, I haven't read the latest book but I have read the earlier stuff. You should learn a lot from the book. Let me know if it is any good and I might buy it as well. He is the one who taught me how to use the range bar to trade with. He trades on a much shorter timeframe then me, he is mostly intraday, but I would fully recommend his work if you are starting out and want to learn to read a chart.

I sent you a PM.
Since EU has returned to my entry price. I have exited my short. I can only think of the problems in Egypt recently as to why the EU has not gone higher in the last few days.

Frank has chapter 7 about range bars as a free article now on his site. Yes I think I will learn a lot from his book. It will be an invaluable step for my trading to learn how to read a chart correctly.

Thankyou for writing this journal.

This method totally blows my mind. I have about 42 pages of Franks book market trading market timing left to read.

I hope to finish the book soon and if possible start some trader coaching with Frank.

This thread here and the one at bookies are extremely helpful. They are like a home base to check in with and make sure I correctly apply what I have been reading. I have started to make some good trades at times based on robust patterns like a matching 3 weekly mid point with daily highs or lows.

I have discovered an important need to record each trade with charts and details so that over time I can discover the best patterns and high probability setups to trade.

I have a bullish view for AU.
last week AU closed just a few pips away from the monthly mid at 1.0721.

Also there is a current 3 weekly mid point at 1.0710.

I expect AU to find support around these levels and then to move up to the 3 weekly or monthly highs.

A break of support here will most likely result in a trip down to tomorrows new weekly lows or this months lows at 1.0578 or 3 weekly lows at 1.0587.

I will post some charts tomorrow morning along with the fresh daily, 4 hr and 12 hr levels.

Finally the current weekly chart has a mid point of 1.0696. I will be interested to see where this new weeks mid point level is. I think AU will need to open above the new weekly mid point to confirm a move up this week.

New weekly levels in. Weekly mid at 1.0698
current 80 pip range bar holding on support 40 pips completed on the range from 1.0766 to 1.0726.
4hr lows at 1.0721.
Im long AU at 1.0731 target is the 3 weekly highs at 1.0834 and 1.0861 and above.

I think today is a holiday in Australia so Im not sure how this will play out, but I like the levels here.

If AU has a 4 hr close today below the 3 weekly mid point at 1.0712 then I think I will close out this position.

Well said .. I am watching 2.. but cant help thinking USD has more strong ups based onlast week bounce of year mid point and other..found interesting 3 weekly mid point..previous.. Amys comment which i had missed.. have yet to run my ruler over index..

I'm short on au and have been since the 1.0845 top on 8/2. I know it's a longtime to hold paying swap but i think it will pay off during March. Tentative target is 1.0486 currently.

Im waiting for next 4 hr GMT time close coming up in 40 mins. 1 pm Japan time / 3pm Sydney time to join shorts.
Rejection of 3 weekly mid is a safe place to enter.

That would be a good entry. Where would you put your stop? A 4hr close back above the 3 week midpoint, or above the 856 high?

everything makes more sense now. I got up at 5am here. my levels had not updated like I thought. Too sleepy....

ok new levels 1.0742 weekly. which we opened below. AU opened at 1.0722 GMT chart.
so I think shorts are safe.

Also the new 3 weekly mid is at 1.0725.

From my mistake this morning I missed the best place to short at 1.0739.

Now thinking carefully what to do.

two possibilities

1. short at 1.0710 area . in 6 mins time on the 4hr close.

2. short at next 4 hr candle when London opens. I think London could take AU back to todays high to continue shorts at 1.0739
short zone. 1.0739 - 1.0725 depending on what PA does over the next 4 hours.

The weekly mid was very important this morning at 1.0742. PA went within three pips and has not returned.

Amy is your weekly mid level 1.0742 too ?

What I do when I want a trade but can't get a good price is do a lot of very small entries scattered over the range I am interested in. I also don't use a stop, I make the decision to hold or not based on the daily close, I don't worry what it is doing in between time. This works for me but a lot of the reason it works is because I position trade mostly these days. If you are looking for trades on a smaller timeframe then it may not work for you.
